Check out Hennessy hammocks - I have always been able to find something to tie up to - sometimes have to get creative - tieing up to two vehicles can work in a pinch if there are no trees

anyone have this? if so is a a roof bar required or can this ball hitch attach directly to one of the 4 (mine has the roof ones covered for so tesla can “save money”) hard points around the bed?
I have this on my FJ. You’re going to need a fair amount of clearance between the roof and where that crossmember attaches. So, I would say that you’re probably going to have to have a rack. It has a ball joint which attaches to the vehicle and the truss has a socket which it fits onto the ball allowing articulation.

I love the design, in theory, but it isn’t as easy to set up as you think it would be, the legs are pretty fiddly and it’s pretty damn heavy- also, you end blocking ingress/egress and depending on where I go it always seems like I want it on the other side (you’ll need two of their mounting points for that- one on each side of your vehicle and I found no simple way to order a second). I don’t want to take anything away from these guys it’s a well-made and well designed product!

However, 😬 … if I’m recommending a hammock for camping it’s this one: https://www.anymaka.com/?srsltid=AfmBOopF4wpqC511o2--Ikxiy2vO0Nd6QWxhDjB1DbGjTbupIJuGur-m

Amazingly stable, sturdy, place it anywhere, up in seconds! Much lighter than it looks and dramatically lighter than the Kammok. It’s also much easier if you’re chasing that last bit of shade, or sun— just quickly reposition and your good to go. With the Kammok, you’re moving your truck. Be careful with the bag though though with extra roomie everything fit in perfectly well … it will rot (I hope they fix that - the handles and shoulder strap both disintegrated and fell off of mine). What’s inside the bag though … chef kiss!!!

Note: they have a new one that’s effectively more of a chair and that’s not the one I’m pointing you toward; it’s the regular full-size hammock you can get it with a canopy (it works well) which I recommend and then you can be pretty much set it up anywhere—middle of the desert — and have shade!

Update: apparently they now have a model that does both “chair” and standard hammock “lounge” configuration and I just picked one of those up to add to my collection. My wife is gonna love that!

I have their original Sunta and Mantis from their 1st Kickstarter and they’ve been great on the few occasions I’ve used them. Build construction is quite robust and I was pleasantly surprised when we got them. I spend many a nights sleeping in a hammock at home and I’ve never been uncomfortable in theirs. Good luck!

great feedback just what inwas hoping for! been looking at the anymaka too. its cheaper and I like that the anymaka is detached. the whole reason I went with a hitch mounted tent as opposed to rtt is so that I could drive away from camp!
