While about the F150 Lightning, I thought this a fun watch for anyone excited about BEV trucks.

So, before there are any misinterpretations about implications of one brand’s superiority over any other, please save the unnecessary wiener measuring and view it instead as indicative of what BEV trucks are capable of generally, with the “better” ones becoming increasingly “better” by definition.

Premise:

• YouTuber for Diamondback tonneau covers out of Colorado gets new F150 Lightning

• takes off for a cross country trip with wife and child, making content stops along the way

• early in, takes his new truck to YouTuber for ‘bug out’ preparedness, out of Utah, who is a former Ranger (they get driving training) and amateur rally car racer

• survivalist YouTuber proceeds to absolutely thrash brand new Lightning on Utah backroads

The guy is obviously not too familiar with BEVs in general, so he’s generally astounded by a number of qualities that would likely be common to any BEV truck (eg low center of gravity) or any worth its salt (eg enhanced suspension for the weight/performance of the BEV).

In the end, left feeling kind of bad for this poor new truck owner who (I worry) can’t bring himself to ask this macho ex-Ranger to chill the f*ck out. He at the end (only half?) jokes that he’ll need to take the truck to a dealership to check for maintenance before they proceed on with their cross-country trip
