Today was the day I should have gotten a non-foundation cyberbeast. However, an hour before I was to take delivery. The Tesla showroom called me and said they had some technical issues with the truck and they wouldn’t release it to me. The prep team could not get the truck to turn on as they were preparing it for a delivery. The Tesla employee told me that technicians were working on it and said that it needed a new battery. A new battery from a truck that had 0 miles on it.

This ever happen to anyone else?

Sounds like they handled it very professionally. You don’t want a brand new car that needed invasive repairs. Hopefully they’ll get you a new one soon!

It sucks that things changed last minute. I agree with the other posts that it’s good that the faults reared their ugly heads before you signed the dotted line. Hope they get you a new VIN soon.

I wonder if the truck will go to another customer once they fix it…… I would not want it worrying about gremlins in the future.

I'm stunned that people in this forum are so forgiving of Tesla delivering a useless vehicle. Sure, the rep is making the most of a bad situation, but this is yet another example of Tesla's poor overall quality.
But they literally didn't deliver it?

Why? At that point it would have been crawled over so many times it would've gotten lots more care than the average truck. Remanufacturing can result in more reliability.

Not to the customer, but Tesla delivered it to their showroom.
The long tail of component failures starts at zero. Statistically, some will fail immediately.

You don't hear about it with other cars, because they don't have wait lists.

But tell me you've never cross-shopped a half dozen cars to test drive without telling me you've never...

All vehicles have examples of poor quality, what really matters is the percentage of vehicles that have an issue. Industry statistics show that most vehicles have at least one issue, however minor.

We don't hang a company based on any one problem, because they all have some issues. Do you have statistics that show Tesla have an excessive number of issues (or are you just trying to create that impression)?

I do know that Tesla has one of the lowest warranty expense per vehicle of any auto maker. That's a good indication that they have a low level of serious issues. This is a financial metric reported with the regular corporate reporting required of all public companies like Tesla, GM, Ford, etc.

Tesla didn’t deliver a useless vehicle. In fact, they refused to deliver it. Then they explained why and said they would deliver a different vehicle as soon as possible.

Most traditional dealerships would have done the same thing in a similar situation, but the buyer would probably not have received any more information than “your delivery appointment has been canceled and will be rescheduled.”

I'm stunned that you would think anyone would believe you not to be a bot or short-seller with this being your first post on this forum.
