Tesla Cybertruck Mars Aeroblade: The World's Slimmest Rooftop Tent 410084

First of all, a huge thank you to the hundreds of Cybertruck owners who have purchased our racks, crossbars, and other accessories since Mars Adventure Gear launched in June 2024. You’ve made this journey incredible. What started with just one Cybertruck has now grown into a full Mars fleet—three Teslas and three Rivians. Yes, we’ve officially entered the Rivian market.

While many of you love our full rack system, we’ve also heard a common question: Is there a rooftop tent you’d recommend? We’ve tested many options—including ultra-premium ones—and even created our own: the Mars Basecamp Rooftop Tent. Through that process, one thing became clear: electric overlanding and camping bring different challenges compared to traditional ICE vehicles. That’s why, from our crossbars to our racks and now our rooftop tent, we’ve constantly asked ourselves: How can we reduce drag, cut weight, and design smarter for EVs without sacrificing performance?

Today, we’re thrilled to introduce the Mars Aeroblade—quite possibly the world’s slimmest 4-season rooftop tent. Crafted with premium materials and engineered for maximum aerodynamic performance, it’s built for those who want to explore further, smarter, and with style.

Tesla Cybertruck Mars Aeroblade: The World's Slimmest Rooftop Tent 410192

If you’re looking for a stealthy, sleek, and truly EV-optimized camping setup for your Cybertruck, look no further. The Mars Expedition Rack System + Mars Aeroblade is the ultimate combination for your next adventure.

***UPDATE*** this is resolved thanks to the amazing team at @Mars Adventure Gear!

Also, thanks for all of you who voiced your support of my very first-world predicament.

If you’re interested in a RTT, definitely buy one from these guys with confidence that you’ll be treated well!

5/5 Stars; Highly recommended!

Well, I guess not having the Osborne Effect … effect sales is an important consideration for you folks, but I am more than a little bit nonplussed to have just received my tent that I pre-ordered without being aware of this even being on the horizon, let alone coming out the very week that I took delivery!

It’s an extra thousand dollars, but aero is the most important thing when driving around in an EV and this stings quite a bit. The fact that at 110lbs I could just about manage this one by myself doesn’t hurt either. 🫤

I’ve been, much to my delight, an early adopter in various areas of consumer and pro tech (for decades now), but I’m not going to do that anymore in this space.

Fool me once … !

To be honest their original tent is not only cheaper but also more roomier with different linkage design… seems like the aeroblade is just a different product for different groups of people who cares less about space more about range.

Yes. That type of person is me. Also, the aeroblade is actually quite a bit longer (3.2”) and only half an inch narrower inside. Honestly, it’s only an inch and a half thinner, but even that might be the difference between getting into my garage and not getting into it with my current set up.

There’s always trade-offs, but for something that certainly was in the works and pretty far along in development by the time that Mars came here and solicited us for pre-orders for the Basecamp, the failure to disclose the existence of the Aeroblade feels like chicanery to me.

I won’t soon forget it.

P.S. When you say their “original tent” was this or that; it’s very important to note that I am definitely one of the, if not “the” first regular consumer to get their hands on it (literally Thursday 04/10/25), and they just announced this new one tonight. At minimum, I’m definitely the first one on this forum to report receipt. So, it’s not like people have been for years or months making discerning choices on which one to get based on careful and deliberate considerations of the options, that’s not how this has gone down - which is EXACTLY what my rant is about!

I'd like to clarify why I made this purchase (Basecamp tent)—understanding that everyone has different needs and priorities.

I live within my means. I've worked hard, built my success, and made sound financial decisions to get where I am.

Quality comes at a cost. If you're looking for cheap, just understand—no one stays in business by losing money. Value and longevity matter.

I'm born and raised in Hawaii. The outdoors, camping, and overlanding are part of my lifestyle. There are times I’m hundreds of miles from the nearest charger, so being able to solar-charge my Cybertruck through a Jackery setup is essential. That kind of real-world mileage matters more to me than saving a thousand dollars on something cheaper if that was a question 🤔.
How did you already purchase and receive the Aeroblade when they’re just announcing it for pre-order today with shipping in May? What am I missing???

The packaging that you’re showing looks like the exact same packaging that my previously announced and just now shipped/received BaseCamp came in.

Did you just receive the same tent that I did? Because that’s not what they’re announcing here.

And if you’re referring to my post the tent that they are offering today the aeroblade costs $1000 more than the tent that you and I already bought ($2999 vs. $1999) and my point was that I would have gladly paid that additional money had I known it existed, but I didn’t -until tonight- and I’m guessing you didn’t either.

I get the strong feeling that you’re skimming these posts tonight and not actually reading them.

If I am incorrect, please accept my apology and tell me how you already ordered and received the $3000 tent that they just announced tonight?

I'll take the L on this one. I was totally wrong, and I owe you an apology, my friend. I’ll be over here eating my words with a side of humble pie hahaha. That said, weirdly enough, I don’t feel cheated—just kinda… at peace with it? I get the buyer’s remorse side, and yeah, maybe a heads-up would've been nice, but hey, business evolves and the R&D folks don't always have a say in how that plays out. All love!

Hi Dalton,

First of all, thank you for being a Mars customer. We loved seeing your recent post about your camping trip — your setup with the Expedition Rack and Basecamp Rooftop Tent looked incredible.

As a fast-growing brand, we’re constantly designing and developing new gear while also refining our existing products to improve performance, durability, and aesthetics. For example, the roof rack you installed is actually the third iteration of its design since launch — part of our commitment to continuous innovations, improvement and listening to real-world feedback.

The newly released Aeroblade was developed even before the Basecamp, with a different customer profile in mind — those seeking a slimmer, more low-profile tent that minimizes range loss and maintains a stealthier look while being willing to pay the premium. As you pointed out, it does come in at a higher price point due to its refined design, premium components, and advanced craftsmanship.

Like most product companies, we don’t announce upcoming gear until it’s fully tested, validated, and ready for production. That said, we have several new rooftop tents in the pipeline — each tailored to different types of users and vehicles. We don’t even know when we will release them to be honest. We might not even release many of our products currently under development. We for example developed a full-size rack for the Cybertruck in April 2024, installed on our truck, didn’t like it and decided to kill the project completely.

It’s also worth noting that the Basecamp RTT has been very well received by early adopters. Its raised front design offers extra legroom, which can be a game-changer. For example, our co-founder — who’s 6’3” — doesn’t fit in the Aeroblade but sleeps comfortably in the Basecamp.

We truly appreciate your support, and we’re honored to be a part of your adventures. If there’s anything we can do or clarify further, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Thanks again for being a customer.

All good friend!

I’m still more than a little miffed with Mars. It’s not just buyer’s remorse, that’s different from feeling misled. Which is how I feel.

We were also told to hurry up and buy the Basecamp because the price was going to go up to $2500 on March 20. That also hasn’t happened. I feel like I’ve been duped and I don’t like it.

Nobody needs to break out their tiny 🎻 though. I will survive this devastating first-world tragedy of having a slightly thicker, heavier and arguably in some ways better RTT stuck on my & $120k 5th car. 🙄

*UPDATE* I just want to note hear that @marsag made this situation completely right and you should give them all your money and buy everything they sell please. Thank you!

I’m sure both tents are great, but you guys should simply make it right and stop trying to spin this into an advertisement opportunity. Take back the old tent, recoup your costs by listing it as a demo or open box, and sell him the new one he actually wanted. You couldn’t ask for a better customer (he promotes your products on here all the time) and you should take care of him.

If you’re near/in Utah I would consider taking the Basecamp off your hands and free you up for the Aeroblade. My issue, ironically re: Mars’ dev program, is I want it mounted on a full-size enclosed cap, a la CybertruckCo’s design
🤷‍♂️

Yeah I really like the CybertruckCo one. Very roomy and looks OEM. Have had several ask when Tesla started making it.

I second this. The response from Mars was inappropriate. It’s easier for them as a company to swallow the cost and make right to this customer that from all the evidence presented was duped. Other customers may now think twice before buying their products.
I 3rd this.. and I’m that customer! I’ve been contemplating the mars rack for a few weeks now, even drove an hour to check it out on another members truck. One of my hesitations is wind noise and the other is that it is quite spendy once you convert to Canadian $. Also recently read a post from mars that there is a wind deflector in the works…. Now I’m wondering if the rack will change to fit the deflector? Will the deflector work with the 7” thick tent I’m considering? I just want to buy this setup once! 🤦‍♂️
