I recently bought and setup the Mars Base Camp rooftop tent on my Cybertruck and was really impressed. It fits perfectly and looks great on the truck. The airbed mattress inside is super comfortable. I actually got some of the best sleep I’ve had while camping. It rained one night, and the tent kept me completely warm and dry. There’s plenty of space for two people to sleep comfortably, and I like that you can open both sides for airflow when it gets warm. The telescopic ladder is solid and feels really sturdy when climbing in and out. Overall, it’s a great setup for anyone who loves camping with a bit of comfort.

I also have it and it is high-quality. The air mattress is 1 inch, however. For the life of me I cannot keep it inflated. I asked about it and Mars was up front that it is a self-inflating mattress not meant for additional inflation beyond the self-inflating foam expansion, and that due to how slim the Basecamp is in vertical height that when testing with larger mattresses the rain seal would not quite seal properly as the larger mattresses would expand in heat and the rain seal would be less effective.

So I bought an iKamper Comfort 7850 and it fits very snugly (almost too big?) but it is something like 4 inches when inflated and will prevent the aluminum floor of the Basecamp from becoming a large human heat sink.

The Basecamp is well made with heavy duty rain-proof fabric, heavy duty zippers, 3 entry-exit portals, 4 sides of possible mosquito net venting, and it has a round duct hole that can be used to funnel a power cord into the tent for stuff like lights, LEDs, charging cables, electric heat pads or blankets, or for pumping AC or heated air into the tent.

Very high quality RTT! At this price point it is a deal, even with what I believed was a very thin air mattress. The one that comes with it is not a bad mattress, but it was too thin for my comfort. My iKamper mattress will just get rolled up and taken out to prevent the rain seals from being less effective during transport. Not a big deal.

And my experience is that Mars has superior customer support. I was taken aback by how quick and responsive they were to every concern and issue that I raised with them. They took care of me! Extremely glad to recommend them knowing this. I’m maybe known in this forum for being critical where customer service or quality has been less-than-stellar. Not so with Mars. A++!

Looks great on your truck! Do you know of any crossbars that can be attached to the top of the tent for mounting solar panels or other gear?

I’ve never seen any attachments for the top shelf, but adding a solar panel might increase the weight.
