This is the way.

Mickey Thompson Baja Boss Tires (305/70r18) + 18" Method 705 Wheels (18x9).

Very happy with this set up. For sure softens up the ride with the extra sidewall height.

Don’t know the range hit yet but roughly 10-15% based on the initial commutes.

Yes, it will rub without modification, but I’m happy to say it’s rub free now.

Hey! Could you answer a few questions for the off-road mega thread?
  • could you please detail your modications?
  • Did the wheels fit with or without these modifications? (clearing caliper, etc. NOT tire clearance)
  • Did the tires fit with or without these modifications? (clearing lock to lock rub, etc.)
Thanks so much!

Basically the same set up I’ll be doing when I take delivery oc my CB. I’ve got 37” Mickey Thompson Baja Boss ATs in my Colorado and LOVE them.

They look fantastic and I'd love to get similar - please report back on range hit as that's the only thing stopping me.

Well it’s a highly capable OffRoad Truck.
There’s always the option of adding the Range Extender, which I plan on doing or buying a Model Y if range is a priority over Off Road capability.

We've got a bumper in development so you'll be able to steer it soon!

Like I mentioned I have no rubbing in all heights after some minor trimming of the front bumper fascia and fender liners. Along with a few heat gun pushes on the fender liners where the back side of the tire hits at full lock. Any larger on the tires and I would need to relocate the horn and wouldn’t be able to avoid rubbing in the back side. this is really the perfect size without having to do any modification I would consider major.

If you develop a bumper please maintain the front cam position, make it out of aluminum plate (see Demello Toyota bumpers for reference), give a spot internally to mount a winch, and make it less bulky looking than stock and I’ll give you all my money if you beat me to it ;)

picture is at full lock at worst case height where tire used to interfere the most (forget if this is high or very high)

Front fascia trimmed to clear tire sweep from lock to lock by about an inch at all suspension heights. I used an angle grinder with a flap disc followed by an orbital sander to get a clean edge.

The method 18x9 +18mm offset fit with no modification other than removing the harmonic tuning block from the knuckles (two bolts, meant to be removed to fit 18” wheels). Special attention needs to be taken on wheel weight placement in order to avoid the caliper (innermost or outermost edge, or both)

The tires fit with no modifications and don’t rub the bumper until you are in high or above heights. I’ve successfully gotten rid of all rubbing at full lock as detailed above.

@Obtuse Can you post a picture of where you used the heat gun? Additionally, How much of a hit to mileage are you seeing?

Do you think these MT's would rub on a 295/70 r18 on wheels with a zero offset??
