Nice, glad to see them come off easily. Little surprising with all the attention this is not getting done at delivery centers prior to delivery, but glad it is an easy fix.

Thank You! Hope the news outlets don’t create another FUD article - “Rusty Cybertrucks getting delivered to customers” instead of actually telling the truth that it’s NOT rust!
I agree but I highly doubt it. They wouldn’t be able to get all the haters to click and news outlets to cover it. I have a friend who knows only what I’ve told her about the CT text me a “Cybertrucks are rusting” article. 🤦🏽‍♂️

Rail dust or industrial fallout related rust stains were clear and present upon delivery. Very easily removed using barkeepers friend as mentioned in other posts. Here are some closeups of before and after.

Yep. That's all rail dust.

And honestly, it happens to every single car that travels via rail unless the car is shrink wrapped.

Cybertruck lead engineer claims that CT stainless has higher PREN (resistance to pitting corrosion) than 316L. This is the first "real" information that has been given about what makes the "30X" stainless on CT "special". Everyone claiming there was some magic formulation, now you have a source.

Yeah, early Founder release videos claimed that service centers were multi-stage sanding surface prepping the trucks before customer release. This treatment should remove any surface contaminants. Maybe some centers sand prepped their trucks, but not all?

I’m surprised they don’t wrap the CTs going by rail. And why would the new owner have to clean his brand new CT? The delivery prep should get all those spots removed before delivering the CT.
Yea seems like they would white stickwrap or at least BKF when they got in. Some of the trucks the rail dust etc is pretty noticeable

and if they did then people would complain why its taking so long for them to deliver the vehicles ... they cant win either way.

I’m on the side of Tesla cleaning before delivery. People have waited for 4 years. Tesla should clean the vehicles, at least to ensure people don’t do the smear campaign of “CT rusts; sky is falling”, unless it’s a genius move to actually have some surface rust so that people go crazy about it, and then debunk the myth to give a PR boost. :p

i know when i get mine if there's some i will gladly take it and clean it myself because i know its not that big a deal to me, but if you want to refuse delivery then that's your choice to make...

Currently, the only two service centers that wrap for Tesla are in California. There’s no way for them to be wrapped before getting to the rail cars.

I’m of the other school - while Tesla should deliver a clean vehicle, environmentally, I’d rather not generate a giant plastic baggie for the landfill. It bothers me to see brand new boats custom shrink wrapped for transport knowing all that plastic was wasteful at best, hazzardous at worst, to produce only to cut it off and send it to “recycling”. But I agree I do not want to take delivery of a dirty new vehicle. The good news is, the BACT is stainless, not painted.

That's to make up for the lack of wheel covers. You're welcome.
