SoCal to Bay Area trip. Night drive, some elevation change heading out of LA area, then mostly flat throughout the Central Valley. Speeds varied from 70-80, temps were 46-54F. Used 250kw superchargers along the way and spent about 80 minutes total between 3 of the charging spots utilized. Drive was great outside of some of what others have said -such as using the wiper when we hit a small 10 minute patch of rain. Water builds up under the wiper and when the rain stops, you have to let that buildup flow up and hit the wiper a few times well after the rain has stopped. Same ol story with that rear camera, as it became worthless until I hit a supercharger and cleaned it off. Image shows trip details.

Thank you for the trip report. That rear camera is definitely going to be a thing in the rain where I live.

How were the headlights?

I wonder why the stops on 3 superchargers when technically, as your headlined, the distance travelled is within or less than your battery's range.

Not as bad as i thought it would be based on everything I heard.
Did you adjust the headlights at all? Video showing how that can be done and it makes a HUGE difference based on the angle and ride height.

You need to learn what the EPA Blended range represents and it's definitely not 70-80mph driving.

And I'm not sure how you think that 473 mile is "within the vehicle's range:.

For most travelling, if you leave at 100%, you'll get about 200 miles on the first leg, then about 150 on each leg afterwards. And since you probably don't want to arrive empty, you must have some reserve when you make it to your destination. So, 3 stops are about right.
Remember that it's over a 7-hour drive, so you should stop for rest breaks no matter what. If you combine them with charging, it doesn't end up being that bad.

Always nice to stop at the Tesla supercharger in Kettleman City since it has “facilities”… might as well charge and top off during that pit stop… so,
In theory, yes, you could just do 2 stops, but with a calculated range of 256, three charges along the way worked out nicely.

I want to stop and smell the roses myself in Coalinga.

Although I would love to have the kind of range you got.

And for those that don't realize it, charging to 90% or 100% while on the road will only make your trip a LOT longer. I mean nearly 30 minutes per stop.
Yup, I make 3 stops in between SF and LA when I solo. Each stop is 7-10min. For comparison, it takes me 5 hours in my old ICE cars.

Also, I have done 8 hour trips with family. Kids always want to sit at a SC and watch Nerflix so we charge to 99-100%. Having Netflix and games in the Tesla is a pita for me.

That's what the rear screen in the Cybertruck will be great for, they can continue to watch Netflix.!

Remember that we are all considered BEV first adopters.

The BEV floodgates will bust wide open once a true battery cell breakthrough occurs that is affordable AND scaleable. We still have 5 more years until that happens IMO. We will get to the point where buying a ICE powered vehicle over an BEV doesn’t make financial sense.

We will all look back in 2034 and get a kick out of how heavy, large and inefficient battery packs were a decade ago.
