My external tracking security 📸 setup

Never thought we would have to implement our own security but alas here we are!

basically I’m running a Wyze pan cam on the outside of the truck for long term parking on a hike or in a suspicious spot.

I found a mount from cyber vintage, it’s a basic clamp style adjustable neck. My goal is to get it on the coming light bar upgrade once it arrives. Then I can close the tonneau and still run the power cable from the bed power.

the camera can record continuous and it tracks subjects moving while also automatically panning every 10 seconds until a target is discovered.

So far it tracked a raven ‍ looking at my trash bag in the bed on a 2 hour hike. For less than 50$ I think this is the best setup until I can modify some things and possibly help simplify the setup to a permanent solution

I was thinking of doing something similar, but with a 360 camera mounted on the roof.

I got the Wyze Pan Cam when it was first released and the motors were shot within months of setting the pan function. It's still in use, but it's set to a stationary point.

If I were an idiot with vandalism on my mind, and saw a CT with an external camera, that camera is getting disconnected/broken/stolen first. You will deter some non-committed vandals though and maybe that’s good enough.
