I have the original Starlink Dishy McFlatface (the round one) that I want to use to connect to the internet in the back country. I have a Starlink Mobile subscription that I will 'Unpause' for 30 days when I go off road. It costs $150/month, but I can pause it when I don't need it.

I modified the three foot pedestal to add suction cups in order to adhere the antenna to the glass roof of the Cybertruck.

Can’t really comment on the star link, except SpaceX was suppose to launch last night around 7:30 pst from Vandenberg. Stood outside for 10 minutes and nothing. Looks like there’re now shooting for 7:30 pst tonight, but with rain starting tonight through the weekend , might be postponed.

Now as far as your hacksaw goes. Yes, that’s an oldie and not really a goodie. The newer blades we now use are bi-metal that reguire much more tension than that hacksaw frame can generate. Also even though it looks like a very clean cut, Aluminum requires a coarser blade to prevent clogging of the teeth. 14 tpi would be better. Even though your cut looks very clean possibly dressed up with a sander?

I am curious. How quickly are you able to unpause the service? Would having a Mobile subscription also work as a backup network in case of local outages?

I, personally, am not sure how quickly the Unpause takes effect, but when I asked Grok, he said, "It takes about 10 seconds to unpause the Starlike Mobile service."

If that's true, and I don't have reason to doubt it, my intent is to unpause before venturing off-road where cell service is absent. It would be a good internet back up as long as you have a way to power the antenna and router.

No post-cut dressing up of the cut. It was easy material to cut with this saw.

That is awesome, if true. I am currently paying over $100/mo for a backup internet connection I almost never use. Even if it took 1-2 minutes, that would be very compelling. Save $100/month but pay $150 maybe once a year. ..and I can take it with me on my outings! I think you just earned yourself a Starlink referral point (if such things exist).

With the antenna attached to the roof, the next decision was where to put the router and how to run the antenna cable to the router. My initial though was to put the router and power transformer in the sub vault, but found that it's much easier to put both in the cabin. The antenna cable runs into the cabin via the rear door as shown here:

The soft rubber door seals make room for the cable to pass. There didn't appear to be any damage to either the cable or door seals.

Inside the cabin, I plugged the transformer into the 120Vac outlet and connected the antenna and router. I opened the Starlink app and put dishy in its stowed position for transport.

Next, I will shorten the antenna cable somewhat to make it easier to handle. Twenty feet should allow enough length in case I have to place the antenna away from the truck to where it will have a clearer view of the sky. Question: Should I keep both ferrite cores (there's one on each end of the cable)?

With connection to the internet via the cellular network, I can 'Unpause' my Starlink account and connect to the internet in a few seconds (not verified).
