Almost looks like it’s in 2WD mode. I have an off-road rig and that’s how I’d look if I had it in 2WD and didn’t shift down to low gear.

Wonder if there’s a way to disconnect the front wheels from power. Or is this a rear-wheel drive (single motor) version?

Difficult with an electric car to measure the acceleration, it comes so quickly compared to a gasoline that the traction is difficult to measure. It would be necessary to include a software option to manage this aspect to better balance everything ;) 🤙

I wish we knew what they were going for. Were they trying different modes or were they testing traction control or were they just taking their time making it harder than it should be?

Or, worst case scenario, it's really hard to drive a CT off-road

Crawl mode (similar to 4L on a classical transfer case 4WD)!

Here's some other rookies taking on the stairs.

Big difference when you keep you momentum going. The CT driver was either a noob or intentionally stopped at base of hill and several other times on the climb.

Nice. Tire specs and tread also often make a difference. Can't read too much into it though, until we see other trucks and/or Cybertrucks with various tires on the same climb.

Wonder if that is the first place the Cybertruck has squealed the tires a little and left some rubber? Maybe or maybe not, but I haven't seen it before this video.

This isn't definitive, but just an observation: If it has a front dif lock, it was not engaged (outside tire slip due to least resistance (traction)), although I was never really thinking tesla would do a front diff lock. I figured they try and re-think the problem and reduce components.

load cells on each shock plus those advanced precision brakes people have been talking about (cant remember the name). To make a far more precise limited slip braking based traction control for axles with only 1 motor.

just thinking out loud, Tesla seems to rethink problems from the ground up to find more elegant solutions.

Exactly, momentum is your friend when trying to go over obstacles. This video is a perfect example of how stopping causes problems vs. just keeping a nice steady pace. BTW, turn down your speakers before this video (squeaky brakes).

is this not the same video from like ~week ago, already discussed ad nauseum RE traction, differentials, etc?
