Hi,
I know some of you out there, like me, look to the data as a way to help gauge their own delivery so I am hoping this might help a few of you.
I am typing this on 4/8 - please bear that in mind. I'll provide updates if needed. (changes to the schedule, any delivery issues, etc)
I am happy to try to answer any questions some of you might have...and good luck with your order & delivery! - Cold Truth
PS. for the record, I don't believe I am the first delivery in NM but I can ask the rep here in Albuquerque what he knows. There's a service Center in Santa Fe also and I know several members of this august body reside there)
Update 4/8/24: Delivery is scheduled for tomorrow (Tuesday 4/9) at 2:30 PM MT in Bernalillo, NM. My Tesla app automatically updated the “delivery appointment” screen an hour after the manager texted me. Nota Bene: I did drop into the Service Center the day I got my VIN last week since it’s only 5 miles away, and chatted with the mgr, asking the usual delivery questions. We confirmed my SMS with a test text and he used it today (Monday 4/8) to share the news that the truck arrived. Note that for Bernalillo, they do their deliveries on Tuesdays or Saturdays only, according to what I heard. So I chose Tuesday vs having the CT spend the week there. (duh). So, 100 days from order to VIN, and 5 days from VIN to delivery (fingers crossed). I did get an SMS from Tesla HQ that “you have a new message from a Tesla Advisor about your CT order. Read and replay at [HTML link opened app].” So even if you don’t monitor your Tesla App, you should get a text within an hour of any changes if your experience equates with mine. Pictures and additional details tomorrow (4/9) evening. Note: Insurance with VIN is required by law in NM, not just evidence of auto insurance, so I called my agent and had the CT put on the policy effective tomorrow, then uploaded a screenshot of the PDF to the app. For some reason, I could not choose a file, only a photo, in the Tesla app insurance section. I will make final payment once I inspect the truck. I’m not worried about a few defects, including panel gaps. I’ll note them along with the mgr for a future service call if needed. I’m just allowing Tesla to bear the risk. My choice. Yours might be different, and that’s fine. Different risk tolerances etc. Cheers.
Update 4/9/24: I took delivery of my Cybertruck today, 4/9/2023 with a 2:30 PM Appointment at the Bernalillo Service Center, just north of Albuquerque. I counted TEN (!) Cybertrucks in the parking lot and there were supposedly 14 (!!!) total at the facility. It took two hours for them to match buyers to their Cybertrucks and process all the transactions. Paying was very simple through the app with their “plaid” app that linked your bank info to Tesla for payment.
Fit and FInish was excellent, no panel gaps or wrinkles on interior fabric. I thought my original rug mats were missing because I didn’t see them in the bed, but they had just installed the all-weather rubber mats on top of the original rug (more of an interesting “weave” than rug, actually).
It took all of two seconds for me to adapt to the turn signal buttons on the “squircle” steering wheel, perhaps because I’ve been riding motorcycles for 32 years, each with different methods of turn signals. The regen felt stronger than my 2013 Model S or 2017 Model 3. And I like it that way. Maneuvering is amazing. The 4-wheel steering and SBW allowed me to tuck it in my garage from an odd angle that I was “certain” would require a three-point type of turn. Nope. She swung her tail around nicely. It’s a tight fit in my garage, but not as insane as I have seen in other posts and videos. the ride was compliant but not too soft. It felt just about right for me. I’m very excited to drive her tomorrow. Oh, and yeah, aside from people walking up to your car in parking lots, get ready for the “iPhone in front of their face” as drivers film you.
