Probably not?

We don't know when this was filmed. But it may have been they needed more validation testing after showing it off this summer - or they're dripping out videos they took this summer.

Looks like we can start the clock on the press showing up to Texas. Disassembly, packaging and shipping all need to happen, but we are at least getting closer!

I’d assumed it was in transit weeks ago. This is kind of a bummer, I was hoping it would be arriving soon. This means best case we’re looking at middle December before it’s in Texas. Then there will be some time for assembly and testing as well.

I was holding out the (tiny) hope that they might start production prior to mid-year, but that shoots that last little hope down.

GigaAustin have ship, assembly, inspection, calibration, test, validation and process scaling for the injection side of the mfg to apply to the larger IDRA9000 mold in situ.

Min three months ~6-8mo if the alloy doesn’t scale as expected in the larger mold. Benchmade .v. IDRA made will differ under controlled circumstances.

Thermal coefficient of expansion from the mass of the mold/machine is going to be a feat of engineering. IDRA looks to have iso’d all in hydraulics. That’s a good gameplan to get past ”first CT batch” successfully.

Funny enough, since I posted that I’ve had 2 independent sources suggest Gigapress is already in the US.



Alex seems to have some solid inside info. @greggertruck had some similar news as well.

We had reason to be optimistic: Sandy Munro was shown the 9000T gigacaster during his IDRA tour 2 months ago.





Maybe that's when today's video was filmed? Or, this is machine #2...!!!

I think perhaps the hint I missed is this frame grab at the end of the video in the top post.
