No mobile data service with Tesla's Premium Connectivity

If I go even 5 miles out of town, an icon appears at the top of the screen showing no signal :-(. I don't know what mobile data service comes with Tesla's premium connectivity, but it doesn't work hardly at all in New Mexico unless you're right in town. Map goes blank black. Does anybody know if there's a way to tell the Cybertruck to use your phone's mobile service when there is no signal? Tesla is obviously not using Verizon. Areas where I have no signal in the Tesla I still have 3-4 bars on Verizon. So it would work fine if I could use my mobile phone's data. I haven't figured out a way to do that so far. Or if there's a way to download maps to the truck so it can still have maps when offline?

From what I understand, Tesla is using T-Mobile service and it’s not possible to change the service. You can though use your smartphone as a hotspot and link your Tesla to it to make it work. Just be aware that you will be using data so charges will apply on your phone service. If you have unlimited data on your phone service then it will be just fine.

Tesla utilizes AT&T or T-Mobile for cellular data, depending on your geographic location.

Yes, Tesla uses AT&T.

Yes, you can use your mobile wi-fi, just connect to it and throw the switch that says something like "use when driving"

I vaguely remember some people being able to get Tesla to change carriers in the distant past. Have you asked the service center about it? You could also have a reception issue with the truck that possibly needs correcting.

I used my phone to hot spot for my MS before giving in to paying for connectivity. Back then, couple years ago, I had to reconnect everytime I got in the vehicle as it disconnected from wifi by default when I started driving.

DUH. Thanks for the tips... old truck doesn't have wifi, so just didn't think about it. I have unlimited data, so will just turn on the hot spot when driving around near home. Was hoping it could just "automatically try" to use my phone's data when it has no signal since it already connects to my phone via bluetooth. But this will work fine.

The Tesla mobile service works great everywhere else we've taken it, so I don't think it's a problem with the truck. There's just no service here except Verizon.
