The middle seat was a bench. Benches don't hafta be flat.

market tends to call it generally a “split bench” or a 40/20/40

Split bench is usually connected to one of the seats, usually the driver's seat. I can understand that 3 independent seats would be pretty wide, but a console or monolithic seat is not something I want. I really hope for clearance from the front "firewall" to the rear bulkhead to keep it all clean lines. the floating rear seats seem to fit that bill and the front seats seem to be well clear of the floor. If there is a console or seat I hope it also has legs that keep the floor clear. Also removable would be great.

but not as Benchy as say, author Peter Benchley who penned the perennial thriller, Jaws.

I don't know if I'll wait for my cybertruck anymore after this sad news of not having 6 seat option. This was the only reason for holding back on hummer, I'm going to still lease another and wait on further changes which sure to happen

6 passenger seating is not going into production for safety reasons. The "air bag" for the front center seat occupant would be the hard 18" display.

That's not an impossible fix. The airbag just has to cover or push aside the monitor.
