Well, I did it! I ordered my Tri-motor CT! Now all I have to do is:
1. Wait for Tesla to decide where to build the Terafactory to build the CT.
2. Wait for Tesla to build the Terafactory.
3. Wait for the 600,000+ CTs ordered before me to be built (3 years?).
4. Wait for them to build mine.
5. Wait for delivery.

Four years? [Sigh]

I think your're right, but closer to 4.5 yrs. But your not alone.
At least 90% of us all, will be waiting more than 2.5 years.
Oh, but you might jump the queue a little as you've ordered a tri-motor.

If you don't mind me asking, can you say what the reservation number is ?
Leave out the last three digits if you like, just want to work out how many have ordered, to the nearest thousand.

There are actually probably only 180,000 tri motors ahead of you. Tesla will probably take 3 months tops to get to a production rate of 5,000 per week after the full factory is up and running. But, from the first one produced through the one year mark, I'll bet they produce 18,000 in three months and then 180,000 in the next 9 months with a steady state production being 5,000 per week. So, just under 200,000 that first year and if they start with all the reserved tri-motors, you could have yours in that first year. How long to find land, permits, and get the factory built enough to start production is another thing...

Oh, as of now, there have been just over 600,000 Tesla's ordered since November. That counts all the Cybertrucks and the S3XY cars as well. The RN is not unique for each production line in the US.

Well over half the reservations ahead of you are going to opt out, or opt to wait before converting to an order. There’s probably 100,000 that already have. And there are people that reserved multiple trucks with no intention of filling all their reservations.

I’ll bet you are realistically looking at about 1 year after production begins before your order is ready.

My understanding is that the approximate 1st reservation number for the Cybertruck is RN112744100,
and given the last known Cybertruck reservation was RN113405104, that 661,004 Cybertruck specific reservations have been made.

Is that not the case ? Are all other Tesla models also reserved within that number sequence ?

Congrats on getting one reserved! The waiting is going to be tough for all of us. I was at Ft Huachucha back in the mid 80’s for 4 year. Had some great times there.

And the back of the queue and still over 3000 places behind you :)

Just out of curiosity, would you swap your order to a short bed Cybertruck if it was revealed, or do you prefer the 6 1/2 ft bed ?

yes, the entire S3XY line is also in that number sequence... my wife's Model Y was ordered right after my CT and has a RN that follows the CT number. It's not the very next number because we waited a couple of weeks to order hers but it's close.

Basically, I believe Tesla has one reservation system. It'd be nice if they would tell us what number we were and in what line so we could plan a little. For instance, Tesla could say "You have the 123,00th reservation for a Tri-Motor CT and we'll be building those first" or, they could simplify and say "You have the 420,000th reservation for a CT and we are making them in the order in which they were reserved in contradiction to the way we've done in the past where we built the more expensive ones first."

Thanks for that Ty, then that clearly means there is no where near 600,000 Cybertrucks reserved !
Thinking about the good news, we're all getting one a lot sooner.

The curious thing is I ordered mine in November just after Elon tweeted "146 k", then "250 k", and my number is around RN11306, so I thought it stood to reason along with what was being suggested elsewhere the number count specific to Cybertruck was.
I think we may all have been mislead a little !

Right. The bulk of the orders at first were for the CT but the Model Y is also a very popular model and is available a lot sooner. I suspect that November and December saw a LOT of CT reservations but after the initial fervor died down, it probably found a standard distribution with Model Y reservations. But, it's going to be quite a few. I think they are over 400K by now.

I would not want the bed shorter than 6ft.

I might still get it, but I want a bed long enough to carry my motorcycle.
