Used to ride in an area with one of the largest areas of serpentine soil. It’s very high in asbestos. It’s a weird soil that doesn’t support the typical sierra foothills foxtails and grasses. It does support some flowers and vegetation and lots of buckbrush with extremely sharp spikes (referred to by anyone who rode there as *uckbrush).

It does break up into very squared off pieces which might look a bit like snakes scales. Perhaps thats why they call it serpentine?

LOL. Red Hills certainly is rattlesnake country, but then all of the Sierra foothills is.

Very very very much looks like a GI Joe Toy to me. Almost like you’d expect a bunch of COBRA soldiers to pile out of it.

I do like it though.
