Permanent power for motorized running boards?

I was about to buy retractable running boards but read a thread that they have to be re-enabled every other day from the center screen. That's a huge bummer. Has anyone come up with a way to permanently enable power, either by tapping a different location or doing something through the app API? Could I write a script that toggles frunk power every day at 2am?

Surely there is a solution to this, no one really lives with these things not working if you haven't driven the car in a couple days?
