I have been using my phone key from day one and just used it in the morning, but I found I can't open my CT during lunch time. I opened the tesla app and it asked me to setup phone key, like I never had one. I do have my key card in my wallet, so I opened my truck and I setup the key again and everything worked normal now.

But it scares me a bit, what if I don't have the key card with me? Is this is reason the guy during the delivery event strongly recommend me to bring the key card all the time? Anyone else see this issue and what is the best solution?

this happens to my teslas from time to time and usually as long as 1) you're near the car and 2) you're logged into the app setting it up requires just one tap on the app. I'm not sure why it happens, and since iOS is a lot less naggy about app updates (and updates apps in the background) I have always wondered if it was an app update that triggered it. (which is not to say that it happens with EVERY app update--far from it--but maybe just a select few.)

At worst if you Don't have your key card but you DO have your app and your car is within range of cellular, you can unlock your car, get in, and use the app (controls > start, I think) to drive.

Thanks, that makes me feel better.

This is my first tesla, but I have been using BMW phone/watch key for 2 years and never had any issue. Wish tesla will have a watch key option as well so I don't need to worry about my phone battery.

I'm still having this issue with my CT. My 22 Model S has never had this issue, but it creeps up on the CT now and then.
