Hey everyone,

I'm currently planning a significant bumper upgrade for my Cybertruck and will be sharing the results once it's complete. In the meantime, I'd love to see all the different bumper modifications that real users here have implemented.

Whether you're running an aggressive off-road bumper, a sleek super street style, custom bumper lights, or any other unique modifications, please share photos and details of your setup.

More importantly, I'm eager to hear your thoughts and experiences with these modifications. What do you like about them? Are there any drawbacks? What advice would you offer to someone considering similar changes?

Let's see them!

If you're looking for ground clearance for rocks the @CYBERTRUCKco bumpers are the best option. I haven't had the chance to install them though. Lots of pictures from their Rubicon trip with them though.

I went both front and back T-Sportline CTX bumpers. I literally get compliments on them all the time (as well as the Urander bed cap). Not inexpensive, but their design and integration into the truck is really top notch. Installation videos are very helpful if you’re planning on doing it yourself. Bolt on, with no permanent changes to truck. Lots of options offered as well. I have no regrets buying them.

We are just releasing our CTco Xpedition Offroad 2.0 Front and Rear bumpers with some minor visual, but also significant performance changes.

On the front bumpers, we made the upper lip 1/2" thicker, and the lower lip .75" thicker, closing up the mouth by over an inch. This also updated the lower skid plates for a better impact angle to reduce damage before sliding over the motor armor. We also have a new wind deflector optional part seen on the images below that improved aero and reduces energy consumption.

On the Rear bumper, we made the forward edge 5" thick, and the rear edge 2" thick compared to the 1.25" it was before. We didn't loose any departure angle, but we gained some visual girth to match the thicker front bumper. We also matched front and rear material to avoid deflection on major impacts like we had on the Rubicon. Result is an added 10lbs, but 2.5x strength.

Our bumpers are designed for best offroad performance to cross the Rubicon vs mall crawler. We have the best front approach angle because we opened up in front of the tires, raised the bottom edge and did not extend the front bumper by 10". Again, same on the rear, we have the highest departure angle because we made the rear bumper skinnier behind the tire and the rear end. IF you watch our Rubicon video, you can see how these features allowed us to cross the trail vs never getting through the gate keeper.

We also didn't overweight our vehicle, both front and rear bumpers together weight just under 175lbs combined. Compared to a competitors bumpers being almost double this weight on each end the weight shed has a DRAMATIC effect on energy consumption.

As an example, our 4" lifted truck is currently achieving 469wh/mile with BFG K03 295/65 vs 393 when it was bone stock. This is the same as with the 1" lift rods testing we did. I have field reports about another 2.5" lift option with the heavy bumpers using same tires only achieving 125 miles per fill up - OUCH!

On our 20 mile street/hwy mountain test loop we duplicated these numbers using FSD standard for comparison:
  • Stock @ 393wh/mile
  • removed caps @ 409wh/mile = 4% loss of range
  • Duratrack OEM offroad tires @ 422wh/mile = 7% loss of range
  • Added lift Rods @ 470 wh/miles <= 17% loss of range
  • 4" lift, 295/65 K03's with wheel caps and new XO 2.0 Front bumper @ 469wh/mile = 17% loss of range ***I am still missing wheel well liners and rear skid plates, so I expect this will improve next week once installed.
this is high mode with 4" lift BTW:

Loved seeing your pics when you originally posted them. I think your post is actually the one that gave me the initiative/compulsion to look into it and do it myself. Thank you!

PS - Have you used the winch much? Would you do it again?

I’ve used the winch only a couple of times. The most recent was pulling our Kubota out of the middle of one of our pastures. The ground was soaked from heavy rains and had turned a low area into a mud bog. It ended up getting stuck right up to the frame (with all four wheels spinning and its heavy mower attached and buried in the mud), but the winch pulled it out easily. The truck stayed perfectly still as it slowly winched the Kubota right out.
It’s nice having the ability to do that kind of stuff now, even if it’s very infrequent (I didn’t have to ask my neighbor to use his bobcat like I usually would have 🤣).
The 12-volt battery that I installed to power the winch is used literally every day. It powers my CB and all my 12VDC accessories (including all the bumper lights). I even ran 40 amps of dedicated power from it to the back of the bed (and installed a NEMA 4X enclosure to distribute it).
It powers my Starlink, some extra outlets for camp accessories (including USB-A and USB-C ports), and even the CTX’s optional rear bumper lights. I wired them in auto mode so they turn on automatically when in reverse, plus manual mode so they can be used as camp lighting or to help with trailer hookups at night. I just installed six Rigid camp lights on the perimeter of the Urander rack that now also run off it, so my camp lighting is in the process of being greatly improved. I’m currently installing a permanently mounted ARB compressor up in the frunk for tire deflation and inflation. That alone will draw up to 90 amps at 12VDC from the same lithium-ion battery.
I have no regrets about installing it—or the bumpers. The truck is just so much fun, best vehicle I’ve ever owned, nothing is even close to it.
