So I go camping regularly and sometimes in very remote locations. Most of the time I don't really worry much about phantom drain unless I'm parking for more than a few days. Recently we went to a beach location for a week that was very far from any infrastructure, so I decided to pull out the solar and Anker battery instead of using the truck for power. I use the tailgate as a table also, it's great!

I noticed that the truck, without sentry on, outlets, or anything else to keep it awake, keeps reminding me that the tailgate is open, obviously not going to sleep to save on power. I have been able to get it stay asleep by closing everything, but it doesn't seem able to do that with the tonneau or tailgate ajar.

I'm sure this is just growing pains on my part, but has anyone figured out how to do this without the truck being awake all time?

I’m not any help, but does camping/tent mode disable the notifications?

This is a great point! Yes it stops the tailgate and tonneau notification. But no, it doesn't stop it from staying awake. I should have led with that though.

I can get the truck to sleep while completely closed and not in camp mode. But camp mode and open it still doesn't sleep. No camp mode and open it doesn't sleep either. Hope that made sense

I'm going to take tiny generator. In case. Experiments are the way to test. But insurance

I have heard that if you go inside the truck to turn off sentry mode ( instead of the app) it will actually put the truck to sleep. I have t tried it tho.

My suggestion is to use the various batteries that one could purchase. They are often called solar generators. Save the range. A Eco-flow Delta will run a tiny home for a weekend. So camping is no problem.

The issue some may have is using the truck. Opening doors waking up car. Maybe not a big deal for one overnight. Yet for multiple nights far from home in a boondocking scenario I do the following:

I empty truck or other Tesla. Set camp. Move truck off to the side and leave it alone. Turn off the bluetooth on the phones. If one really wants to be crazy. Turn off data sharing etc, and remote access. No searching for a cell signal that doesn't exist. Use the truck for driving not for power.

Is the above necessary? Not always. Yet bringing generators that are propane or gas kind of cracks me up means most haven't done some simple math, and are worried. So they bring the opposite. A giant loud generator that they hope to use to charge the truck, yet use the loud beast to charge Iphones.

The Cybertruck can't go 150 miles into the woods, and be there for three nights and drive out. Please let me know where one drives 150 miles into the woods from the nearest town. I know a few in northern Quebec and Canada. Fun adventures. Don't see many going to that extreme.

This morning I woke up at the Big Sandy Trailhead in Boulder WY. Heading into the Cirque. Using and Eco-Flow and Starlink. Will be here for another 2 days. Boil the water. Play my tunes.

Enjoy camping. Nature is a true stress reliever.

I suspect that it may be your phone keys keeping the vehicle alive.
It keeps thinking that it needs to be awake because you are going to open the door.

While you may be able to turn your phone's Bluetooth off, some phones keep turning it back on.

While not the nicest, you can always unpair and just use the card keys until it's time to strike camp and then readd the key.

OMG! This is doing the trick! It's actually sleeping while being opened up. Thank you thank you!
