Tesla told me: "There is currently no installer coverage for this customer's zip code - if there is still no installer coverage by the time the customer's delivery is scheduled, they will receive an email for next steps".

Anyone else have this happen and if so, what does Tesla do?

Most likely they will give you a limited time of free supercharging and/or a voucher(maybe $700) for one time use in their Tesla online market.

I’m getting the voucher since i basically already have the powershare equipment. The only think I need is the CT update to allow sharing, which is supposed to be released in June. Have a VIN, waiting on delivery.

Yeah that one won't work for me... I think it sucks if they offer your $5800 to get your charging all set up, then offer a paltry 12 months of super charging and a $700 voucher for Tesla swag. If they offer lifetime Super Charging, that would be fine by me, even though I cant imagine using it more than a few times a year, if even that.

That would make the $20K extra not as worth it if they don't serve up the PowerShare.

For the lawyers in the house, isn't this breach? The notes say "Eligibility based on installation feasibility at your home". Does feasibility mean whether I can, or whether Tesla *allows* a particular electrician to do it? We have some great electricians in my area... the wording by Tesla seems rather grey.

Sorry...this just really is annoying.

I'm in Colorado and Tesla connected me with dutchcreekelectric.com to get a quote on installing Powershare equipment. Maybe it's worth reaching out to them directly to see if they could service your location?

Thanks. Unfortunately they are in Denver and I am in Durango. I doubt they would make that trip. We have great electricians here and Farmington, NM is 45 minutes away (we are basically a suburb of Farmington). So its certainly not an electrician issue.

I just called the Tesla Power folks. They said they are working on figuring out what they are going to do. He mentioned that the layoffs impacted a lot and they should figure something out... to wait for the VIN and then they can escalate and see what may be available. He also agreed its just a glorified transfer switch and any electrician should be able to install it but that Tesla wants to control who/what/where on those at this time. He said its changing.

So I guess I will wait for the VIN. We have folks out of Gypsum with 1/3 orders getting CB VINs now, so I am hoping I am close since my order is 1/23.

This may end up being the deal breaker for me and I either force getting my $1100 back or roll it over to a non-FS and wait it out so its a more equitable deal depending on whether Tesla is willing to make this happen or not.

Does this not apply? https://www.tesla.com/support/powershare#certified-installers

What if my home qualifies, but there are no Certified Installers in my area?

If a Certified Installer is not available in your area when your vehicle delivery is scheduled, we will notify you and update you when a Certified Installer has been trained in your area.
Actually that does! So I assume it means I will get it eventually... which is ok I guess. That actually is super helpful. Thank you for this!
