Hi everyone,
On Dec. 14 2024, I had a problem with my purchase of the CyberTracker maybe some one out there known a persone in a higher possision that I can talk to about this issue. Now my story.

1. I reserved the CyberTruck in 2019. I received notice in Oct. - Nov. 2024 that my truck was coming up for purchase soon.
2. I went to the website to make final section on the options and make additional payment on the truck.
3. I printed out the "Moter Vehicle Purchase Agreement " and followed all the information it that I needed to do including the payment procedures in it that stated I could pay by Wire or by Cashers Check.
4. I choose the Casher Check an got one.
5. Two days before I was to get my truck I was notified that Tesla needed a wire of the money after I got the check. I notified them that I had a check as per their Purchase agreement.
6. At the distribution center the GM stated that they could not sell me the Truck that I needed to make a wire transfer on a Saterday and it would take up to 7 days for them to receive it.

I asked the GM if I could talk to someone higher since I had the their Purchase Agreement and the Check as outlined in the contract and she was not going to help me at all. This has been going on since 12/14/24 and I have tryed to get in contact with anyone but everything goes through Text mail or to and automated system that comes back with a form letter.

Does anyone out there know of someone in the Tesla company that can help. I am still interested in buying but if they can change a purchase agreement it makes me worried that can change any agreement that is written.

Anyone give me your thoughts on this matter or a person that I can contact higher then the GM of the Distribution Center.

Thanks
Gary
Tesla communication is so bad. We arenā€™t the only ones that have the issue. I spent several hours just to talk to someone and the one time I did, he hung up on me. Wire transfers take a day or less. If you talk to your bank, they can even expedite it. I will tell you what friends have told me after you receive your Teslaā€¦ you will love it! I hope to not deal with their staff for awhile.

Just cancel the order, void the cashierā€™s check, make a new reservation, WIRE TRANSFER the money, and you will get the truck in one week. Itā€™s that easy with Tesla. If you want to sort this out over phone for the current order, it might take entire 2025. Iā€™m not sure why you are fixated on Cashiers check. I wire transferred money 5 days before taking delivery. Tesla wonā€™t run away with your money. If you are buying $100K+ truck, donā€™t worry too much about not having the money in your account for a few days without having the truck. Tesla wonā€™t scam you and disappear with the money. Wire transfer is equally safe with Tesla.

I understand that this is not how we buy cars traditionally, but this is Tesla way. With regular dealers, we haggle and negotiate, and once everything is locked in, we give them a check. Not with Tesla. No haggle, no negotiation, no non sense, no hassle! You go, you see, you wire, you buy!

I second this.

Giggles. I got in my truck. Started to drive out of building. Stopped. Asked boy (21 yr old). Do you want me to pay for this??? I handed him Navy credit union check. Drove off.
Week later get email from Tesla. I didn't sign check. Sorry, boy didn't ask me to.
Your GM is UN informed jerk. Too bad. It's so sad. This delivery system is different in every location. And no way to get in touch with HQ.
My service was so bad. I wrote letters to Fremont. That got instant action

It seems pretty basic to me, if you want the truck then void the cashiers check (if that is the real issue) and buy it in a manner suiting Tesla. For the life of me I donā€™t understand why youā€™d stand on some principle for this. Youā€™re missing out on an amazing truck. Money is money, welcome to 2025.

A lot of dealers wonā€™t take cashiers checks because there is so much fraud with fake cashierā€™s checks. A wire transfer is safer for a dealer. Redeposit the check and wire the funds. There is no shortage of any version of the cybertruck these days or allocations of you want to order one - not Al or of options anyway.

A cashiers check is not what it was years back

Also BS. Not that there may be businesses who will refuse to take them, but that there are any risks with those checks.

Just earlier this week I took a Cashier's check from a vehicle sale to my bank. Check was issued by Wells Fargo, my teller called an automated number at Wells Fargo, punched in the check number via the keypad and got a confirmation it was a valid check and proceeded with my deposit with an immediate release of funds. In the past they would just call the branch where the check was issued and get a phone confirmation from the branch manager. There is a reason why a Cashier's check is a thing for a lot of businesses while Personal Checks may not be accepted.

Precisely how itā€™s supposed to work.

Iā€™ve purchased three Teslas with cashiers checks for the balance due without issue.

While EFTā€™s and wire transfers are replacing them as the default/gold standard theyā€™re still easy to verify as you describe.

Weā€™re missing detail details that explain why this is happening to this gentleman. And again he gave us a very obvious clue cashierā€™s checks should not be more than what is due. It should be EXACTLY what is due, made out to Tesla.

Not hard.

As the other folks suggested earlier, the issue in this case is likely that Tesla locations aren't setup to deal with complex transactions, which would be just another thing Tesla is optimizing to lower their operational costs. So they simply have no process to issue a partial refund for a check that's more than the required amount. I would void the check to put the funds back into the checking account, then do an EFT via the app.

Tesla isn't actually concerned too much with fraud, because like I posted earlier (and some people failed to understand), they released the truck to me before the EFT payment even cleared.

My general take on this is that someone who canā€™t spell ā€œcashiers checkā€ is trying to buy a tech car. Pay by wire transfer and youā€™ll get it. You donā€™t sound the brightest on the latest tech, which this is.
Jeez, didnā€™t mean to make everyone mad with that. Everything is digital with Tesla (and more or less everywhere else in the world right now). Can yā€™all NOT be the guys that pay a speeding ticket in pennies and just kinda get with the times?

You didnā€™t make me mad, I pretty much agree with your take. Sometimes it seems folks just want to wallow in difficulty just so they can justify not getting the truck šŸ˜

Just because someone has trouble buying the truck the way they expect to buy doesnā€™t mean they are idiots who are coming up with excuses not to buy! Why in the world would anyone want to post in a forum on why they canā€™t buy to justify themselves? You said the same to me when I cancelled my FS Beast. Now Iā€™m enjoying my non FS freaking Beast every single day, and Iā€™m so glad I didnā€™t pull the trigger on FS. Try to see things from otherā€™s shoes. Not everyone is looking for an excuse to not buy the truck and post the silly reasons on this forum to get some sort of validation. Even saying it out aloud makes it sound so stupid!

Cashiers check = easy to falsify and have a bogus piece of paper which appears to be a valid check. I am ***NOT*** saying this is what OP is doing; rather, I am saying this is why a seller might refuse a check.

When I purchased my Model Y 9/1/2023 (Friday) at the Aurora, CO service center, I took the vehicle before making final payment. However, a FedEx tracking number from the lender was uploaded (by me) to my Tesla account. I brought in the actual check Tuesday 9/5/2023.

OP: what is preventing you from wire transfer? A wire is pretty much ONE business day or less, for domestic transfers. Your issue is almost 30 days old at this point!
