I use FSD probably 80% of the time.

But against my better judgement, I signed up for Snapshot with progressive. After two months, it thinks I'm using hard braking and giving me a low score. Sure enough, my insurance from Progressive just jumped over $400 for six months, went from 850 to 1290. I'm not saying it's all because of snapshot, but I'm sure it's playing a part in it. I doubt if I called them, they would outright tell me.

Anyone have similar experience?

I also have Progressive Snapshot. My score is 5/5 and I use FSD about 30% of the time. My wife's score is 1/5 (we are screwed at renewal). She uses FSD about 90% of the time. The problem is she gets dinged for phone use on almost all of her drives. There is also fast acceleration and hard braking for her while using FSD.

EDIT: Our biggest problem is when we drive together, Snapshot marks both of us as the driver and my wife uses her phone the whole drive, then she forgets to edit the entry in the app to mark herself as a passenger. This annoyance alone is likely why I will be looking for another insurance provider soon, or removing snapshot.

If you call them they will give you some details about how much the driving is impacting your premium. Regardless, $1300 for 6 months isnt that bad the way I see it.

I have USAA and they too complain about harsh braking often. Seems overly sensitive to me, and they are just throwing spaghetti at the wall to see if it sticks so they have at least *something* to ding on your score. The accelerometer is the only thing they can technically use from the phone sensor suite that would give them actionable data. Can't use the GPS since it's not accurate enough for speed/location.

Having said that, I have seen anywhere from 20-30% discount with them for using it. They mostly want to see how much you use your phone while driving, since that is the single largest factor today for preventable collisions. Because most drivers these days are selfish pieces of trash that toy with the lives of everyone else on or around the roadways.

And it's going to be the single largest factor of us quickly moving to mandatory level 5 autonomy (making private drivers licenses pretty much non-existent). Can't wait!
