I tried the 3D printed one and removed the mirror, but it didn’t hold up and the model didn’t have the holes aligned correctly. I didn’t try printing as one suggested by outsourcing the model to an aluminum shop.

I tried removing the mirror and using a 20mm mount but I think it hangs too low and doesn’t look as clean.

Here’s the best option I think so far that is with off the shelf parts.

- Mirror tap to get 12V power to the radar detector
- Sanded out a groove in the plastic rear view mirror cover to route the wiring out while still using the cover.
- SDSACZMU Radar Mount (https://a.co/d/9HXkLEs). I tried the “Radar Mount” brand which is similar but it is not as heavy duty as the SDSACZMU one and broke when tightening the clamp.
- I clamped on the angled part of the mirror and used the shorter set of screws. The longer set are way too long. I also swapped out the color of the rubber bands from red to black, which they provided.

I’m finally super happy how this turned out and still keeps the mirror. I might upgrade the mirror that has a dashcam front and rear with video screen down the road.

You shoulda gotten one made out of aluminum. Thats what I did and it's perfect... very solid. All I had to do was spray paint it. It looks OEM.

I thought about it but figured it was one more step and waiting few weeks to test which may or may not work well. This was quick and easy and I like that the original mirror is still in tact. I’m going to try a wolfbox with the oem ball mount to replace the existing mirror but use the post and ball joint.

Waze is only useful as people mark. Sometimes they aren’t updated in 30 min or more. Also, if you drive roads outside of main highways, radar detectors are 10x more useful than relying on Waze.

Which STL did you use? The one I had with the link before didn’t line the screws up well.

How did you go about powering up the radar detector?

There’s 12V power in the windshield /mirror controller area. I followed this video to see how to remove it and tap into it using a 12V radar detector mirror tap I got on Amazon.

I found it very easy with no purchase needed. I asked Valentine1 which of the 4 wires are the power. I cut a telephone line to fit. Stripped the 2 wires needed and soldered the ends. And, after taking off the windshield casing, inserted the soldered ends inside the power to the camera. Here is the result...

You definitely do not live in Texas! Very much needed. Especially as fun as this CT is to drive fast.

I have my front windshield tinted and the shop said they don’t recommend mounting on the windshield because it can separate over time.
