I installed the rearview mirror last weekend and I love it, but I have a few requests that I would love to see in an upcoming firmware update:

  1. Zoom level - Add an ability to set a default digital zoom like tesla recently did with the built in rear camera. That way if I want the default level at .75 , .85, 1.15, 1.25 It will offer a few options of zoom in or zoom out to meet most users needs.
  2. Flip mirror - I have the mirror "upside down" because i want the wider part down so it shows more road, not more sky. The extra inch of road showing is helpful, i could care less about the mirror matching the OEM shape. This works fine when i use the existing flip camera to bring the image back to the proper direction up, however any text on the screen is still upside down.
  3. Brightness - I find that at night it is still too bright. Please add additional brightness levels down or improve the auto brightness to go dimmer in very low light like at night.
  4. Blue light filter - please enable a blue light filter to warm the image up a bit, it is very harsh white at night and strains the eyes pretty bad.

There is already a firmware update to flip the mirrors. They also updated the mount to address the difficulty in aligning the screw.

Thank you for the suggestion however you didn't read my post carefully. I have the camera flip on, which turns the image back correct since I have the mirror itself upside down. HOWEVER the text on the screen menus is upside down now when I go into the menus. For those of us like myself who want to mount the mirror upside down to get the wider side showing the ground, they need to implement a screen flip option that slips the whole screen, not just the camera image.

Your correct I missed that - sorry.

As an FYI and additional improvement for them to work on.

I removed about 11 inches from the power cable - the pinout is in the included picture. Only three wires are used to get power to the unit even though they use an 8 pin connector. I routed the front and rear connectors up through the gear shift tunnel. This makes it so there are no wires coiled up in the triangle/GPS/Camera molding.

I also removed 10' from the rear camera wire since I mounted it on the roof to eliminate that large spool of extra wire. Nobody mentions where they put that in any of the install videos.

If I had it to do over I would have spliced both the front and rear camera wires in the same place so the unit could be disconnected and removed easier.

Best,

No, that would require you to implement the feature to flip the interface. It doesn’t really bother me as i hide all the text and use the current flip video option so the video feed is proper.

The new Gentec mirror has swipable zoom. I asked Hansshow if they might someday offer the Gentec 3/4 channel mirror but they didn’t seem to understand.

One more issue I found specifically with the Hansshow mirror in conjunction with a modern radar detector such as the Uniden R8 installed directly under the mirror/GPS unit.

When you have this Mirror installed (even without a radar detector), you have to be EXTRA careful when routing the wires on install around the GPS antennae reflector sticker which is inside the camera cover that you pop off. Not many instructions or videos tell you about this. I learned the hard way by having to install it twice and adjust it after the first install because my GPS was WAY off.

With that issue fixed by careful wire routing, you then have to be aware if your modern dash mount radar detector has Bluetooth and you have this mirror installed, it will again cause GPS malfunctions in the Cybertruck. My guess is that the Bluetooth is as much a culprit as the mirror wiring that wraps around the GPS antennae. With both combined together it causes issues probably by amplifying the affect that the Bluetooth has on the GPS antennae.

As a test and double check, i swapped out my Uniden R8 for my older unit the Uniden R7 which doesn't have Bluetooth and it had no issues affecting the trucks GPS. So I swapped back to the R8 and had to disable the Bluetooth and reboot the radar detector to get it to stop interfering.

Anyone know how to get the mirror to sleep when leaving the car, mine seems to stay on.

Not that I know of, you can use the built in sleep function, but the problem is it won't auto wake up since the car itself doesn't turn off, so it therefore also doesn't turn on which would trigger the mirror to wake again. I just leave it on, it's really not that much power draw but if someone does find a way, I'm all ears.
