I finally removed the rear view mirror before a 4 hour road trip and it's the best thing I've done since getting the truck! It's worthless for sure but I didn't realize how just having it there was distracting me and keeping me from adjusting to the camera rear view on the screen my brain and eyes just couldn't stop looking there and then trying to find a usable image. Both when I needed to check behind me and just as part of normal driving scanning. Each time it only took a second and I'd catch myself and look in the right spot but those are key and valuable seconds when you need to see or know what's there. Once the mirror was gone it made such a huge difference and it was so much easier to adjust to looking at the screen and felt much more natural and safe. My conclusion is that having the mirror is WAY more dangerous than just removing it.

And it only took all of 60 seconds to remove.

I am going to point mine at my kids in the back
Valid, and I'm sure eventually my eyes and brain would have adjusted, even with it there. It was just such a huge, immediately noticeable improvement for me.

Agreed! It looks so much better without it as well. I did find myself looking for it once when I had the bed full of stuff. Just natural to look in that mirror on a truck for the bed contents, not really for behind the truck. At least for me.

Exactly what I did! But I have to admit that the OP is right, I still instinctively look at it costing me time if I need to react to something. I may just remove it anyway on this suggestion, it's a good point

It doesn't bother me. I will leave it alone in case i need to open the touneau cover to drive if the rear camera goes bad.
You could reinstall it in about 3 minutes if you had it with you. Right now mine is in my garage storage bins but I’m thinking about putting it in the under seat storage in the event I need it like you said. Would be lame for it to go out on a road trip. :/

Cybertruck is an amazing machine to drive …If it runs. The biggest problem now for me i really lack of the confidence to take it to a long trip.

It would be nice if the review was bigger and also a full time display. Only one place to ever look.

Same here, I adjusted to not looking at it in only a couple of weeks. I also noticed the side mirrors provide a rear view of my lane behind me, just not for about 30 of so feet. A motorcycle or smart car might be able to hide in that spot if they were tailgating.

I made my maiden voyage down to Bend, OR this past week. 7-8 hours and no issues and I went the scenic way out I-90 and down through Yakima. Good trip all around.
