Tesla has ALWAYS said ramp up in 2022.... pretty simple.
It was originally "Production starts in 2021 and ramp up in 2022", it is now "Production starts ... sometime?? in 2022." We've twice had strong hints that it is late 2022, an 8-12 month delay. Which would suggest the ramp up will be mostly in 2023.

Right now all we have to go on officially is a 4 word change on the ordering page and some vague comments by Musk which weren't public comments.

We're still waiting on:
  • 4680 cell production.
  • 8k Giga Press.
  • Apparently FSD HW4 now.
  • Beta trucks.
Based on previous build outs and comments from Musk, it takes about a year to ramp up production. That can't happen until all the above is in play. Once we see all of those pieces in play, it's likely a 4-6 month wait for the first customer trucks, and another year after that until they are at full production (5,000/ week). Unless you can figure out a way for them to cram 18 months into the next 12 months, that seems unlikely.

Report: Vaporware Tesla Cybertruck Deliveries Delayed Until 2023

A leading electric vehicle advocacy publication cites un-named sources as saying the imaginary Tesla Cybertruck won’t be delivered until 2023.

It was November of 2019, nearly two years ago, that Tesla held its launch event for the imaginary Cybertruck. Chief public relations officer for the company, Elon Musk, was the ringmaster. A cadre of minions dressed in black and wearing boots and long black jackets (in sunny California, indoors) was on hand to help demonstrate the awesomeness of this latest Tesla vehicle. What looked like a guillotine was on stage, and the highlight of the event was the chief minion throwing things at the Cybertruck to show off the bulletproof windows, which promptly shattered. It was all so promising, sad, and weird. Why the event was not held at Burning Man is the only real question.

When Was Cybertruck Launched?
The truck shown on stage in 2019 was a prototype, or mock-up, or possibly a hologram, and had not come from a production plant dedicated to the model. Wide-eyed lamestream media journalists and Tesla’s advocacy media partners covered the event as if it were a real launch for a real product. The implied promise was that this was a consumer product that could be purchased. Except it wasn’t. And still isn’t.

One top Tesla news publication, Elektrek, recently updated Cybertruck fans and investors by revealing that the Cybertruck may not be for sale to the general public for quite a while. The publication cites un-named sources to whom it spoke as having been on a call directly with Tesla’s production manager Elon Musk. According to this loose chain of sources, the current Cybertruck won’t see volume production “...until late 2023.”

Interestingly, Elektrek covered the delayed production of the Cybertruck multiple times thus far in 2021. Here are some links:
January Elektrek Cybertruck Delay Story
July Elektrek Cybertruck Delay Story
August Elektrek Cybertruck Delay Story
September Elektrek Cybertruck Delay Story
Clearly, someone wants to carefully manage the news that Tesla's Cybrtruck has been delayed.

Tesla Cybertruck Delay Sources
We don’t know how to verify Elektrek’s claims that the Cybertruck is delayed since the publication's sources are not named. Tesla’s abandoned PR contact numbers and emails are no help. However, Elektrek’s owners and writers are investors in the company they report on according to the site's "About" section, so we are confident the publication carefully checks out its facts on the products its employees hold a financial stake in.

When Will Cybertruck Really Be Available?
Nobody is certain when Cybertruck product will begin. The usual way of gleaning tidbits of info from this public company, tweeting towards its leader, has not worked well. So, if the information reported is correct, Cybertruck reservation holders who have been picking out things like solar tonneau covers and camper accessories will have to wait at least until 2023 to install their gadgets. Or, if the demand is still high for all things electric by then, possibly not until 2024. Five calendar years after the product's launch event hosted by a public company.

Reading this is like watching one of the Clickbait YouTube CT videos. Same old regurgitated info drama that has been already said time and time again. To much speculation?!

My 13 year old vehicle needs an injection of maintenance such as tires, brake pads, rotors and an annoying air conditioner fix that totals to about $3k. It basically sits in the garage full time with Covid work from home life. I am going ahead with fixing it so it will stay a viable method of transport until the Cybertruck arrives. Living in New Mexico I was worried about the service center issue but thanks to the local pueblo there is one Tesla location now in NM and it's only 22 miles from me.

If you don't know, can't, won't, name the source, then you are the source. You admit that you don't know. So, shut-up!

This would actually have been the perfect place for it, except I don't think the people who go to Burning Man would have wanted a big product launch on their doorstep. From what I understand they don't want that kind of vibe at the event.
That's expressly prohibited at the event. No commercial activity is allowed. No sales, no advertising, no filming for commercial sale, no trading/bartering; a few exceptions are allowed: Center camp coffee, non-profit organization, donations/tips (but not required or allowed to be advertised), artic camp ice, and potable water/black water service from authorized rv services.

So, if I go to burning man and sell cheesecake, I will be banned and run out of there?

OK to give alcohol away? 🤔

Free cheesecake behind the door, a sign states door activated by this amount of tip. Tips are not requested. My plan is BRILLIANT!

Yes. You will be asked to leave. It's part of the AUP you agree to with a ticket. It has happened. And selling video after the fact has led to camps being banned from returning.

If you even litter, you will get lower priority on camping location the next year (bad enough and you'll be banned)

Yep, that's how all the bars operate.

That wouldn't be allowed. Coin-op is considered commercial activity.

Also, Burners would just open the door.

Now, you can limit it to camp members who pre-paid before the event. You're allowed to pool resources.

How can I be incorrigible if you will not let me. Hmmm, I will airlift the cheesecake and receive payment. Since 8t is off the ground, it will be outside of Burning man. Loopholes!

What a terrible article.
It doesn't add anything, it goes on an ad hominem tangent against electrek, and the last sentence doesn't even have a verb.

-Crissa
Yeah that article isn't even amusing in a snarky sense. Just a bitter dude complaining about stuff so bitter people feel empowered to the self-deception that their lives aren't miserable. I found your note about the missing verb to be the best part of that whole page.

They control the airspace, it's a registered airport with traffic control.

Just make an app that delivers it. It all takes place online. One a day my van rolls up, the drone deploys from the van and delivers cheesecake. Don't have to even attend the event. Just magic cheesecake from the sky!

They control the airspace: All drones have to be registered. Rangers will hunt down and lecture violators.

There are no in and out privileges for vehicles, so any trucks you send in need different tickets (and all vehicles need their own tickets unless they're towed). There are many fewer vehicle tickets than people tickets!

And the internet didn't work out there until two years ago.

Like you said, you end up with quite a few rules when you're dealing with libertarian paradises. Everyone is a loophole-seeker.

Well this year Burning Man didn't happen officially so a bunch of anti-anti-establishment people made their own.
