I ordered the Cybertruck puddle lights back in April on Amazon only to quickly find out the seller had made them for a 12v not 48v system. They refunded my money but told me to keep the puddle lights. So I had a random idea as I was cleaning off my workbench and thought I could wire a pigtail to the 4pin trailer light output and voila! A rear puddle light mounted under the hitch that’s on when the parking lights are on. I just cut out the center pin hole where the factory hitch cover mounts.

Very cool. This is a great idea! I think I’m going to order/make a light and do this! I might even have an extra 4 pin connector.

I wonder how hard it would be to create a custom projection. Something funny like

“Insert trailer here”
“Do you like my ball?”

I emailed the seller on Amazon that I bought the others from with that same question :)

I’ll have to do some reading and see what they use to make the masks on the lights. I have a vinyl cutter and a laser, I’m wondering if I could find a suitable material to cut to use. Not sure how feasible that is.

Very cool and would be very interested to find out if either a Cricket or 3D Printer could make the custom “mask”. Thx for sharing.

Debergo, would you happen to have more details on how you wired this? I want to do this as well but have no clue.

Does the CT think it is towing using the 4 pin connector?

Howdy, I just wired it to the brown and white wires on the 4 pin trailer plug. The puddle light came with a spare pigtail connector for the light and I bought a 4 wire trailer plug from Amazon.
Cover- no the truck doesn’t show the trailer is connected, I think the amp draw is so low it’s practically not there to the truck.

Super cool. Does this turn off with the car? Does it work while charging?

So i was able to do the same as Debergo (thanks for the Idea!). I don’t have a spare logo puddle light so for now i just put in a regular puddle light until i get one with a Cybertruck logo. Pretty easy install, just required some cutting with my dremel to make a hole for the light in the hitch cover. Can’t tell quite how it looks yet as it’s still bright out now.

Btw, the light turns on when the parking lights turn on so on unlock, it will turn on and turn off when you lock. It will stay on as well when the headlights are on too.
