The primary purpose of this post is a review of the CybertruckCo Bed Cap / Topper. This review is based on my first weekend camping excursion and off-road experience with the bed cap (and a bunch of other truck and camping gear). In short, I am very pleased with the purchase and would not hesitate to do it again. I give the bed cap and CybertruckCo a 9 out of 10 stars.
As a Foundation Series owner, it was important to me to ensure any modifications I made to my Cybertruck matched the unique aesthetic of its original design. The bed cap looks pretty slick IMO (and also the many who have commented positively to me). It met my needs for both futuristic looks and at a reasonable cost. In addition, it’s not janky or flimsy in any way: this cap is rock solid and structurally tight.
I purchased the CybertruckCo Bed Cap Topper in April of 2025. It comes from Poway, CA, and I work in an adjacent city, so I was able to visit the showroom factory and interact with the owner and staff. They supplied the precisely engineered parts, and I assembled the frame and then the panels over the course of a couple weekends in my driveway at home. They have numerous YouTube videos with installation instructions. I chose the option to install myself; If you live outside the region, they will ship you all parts.
I’m an engineer, and building it was definitely challenging, but it’s the sort of tinkering I really enjoy, so I found it both relaxing and rewarding. I received constant support from the CybertruckCo team and the online installation videos were very helpful. I like that this is engineered and made in America, by real people just like you and I, and again, it’s spot on both functionally and aesthetically.
The camping and off-roading trip, including wind and rain, was a 100% success, with the bed cap and all camping gear keeping me dry. I’m calling it Cyberglamping. I did add some additional CybertruckCo gear, including roof cross bars for my off-roading spare tire, and the spare tire mounting kit. I also purchased the Tesla spare tire and jack, and a Pelican roof box. Placing this gear on the roof freed the truck bed clear for sleeping and the rest of my gear.
I purchased a Kampkeeper back-of-SUV tent from Amazon for under $200, which worked perfectly, in fact much better than expected. Photos also include running boards, molle panels, and the truck-bed mattress from Cybergearco. I also did some novice, level 1 off-roading, which was awesome, and I can’t wait to meet others doing the same and getting to try more difficult and epic terrain.
The CybertruckCo Cybertruck Truck Bed Cap / Topper
PROS:
1. Blends seamlessly with the aesthetics of the original Cybertruck. As you can see from the pictures, the lines and angles work with the trucks’ unique shape and form. The top (ceiling) can be white or black. White reflects heat so the inside doesn't turn into an oven.
2. Relatively inexpensive. I did research various options, perhaps not exhaustively, but I was very satisfied with the product price.
3. Functions exactly as advertised and designed. I wanted my Cybertruck to include a good old camper shell, like past trucks I’ve had (but I didn’t want to spend a fortune). I worked exactly as I had hoped. The plexiglass windows are a very nice touch.
4. Modular design allows for future modifications and expansions. At one point it was just a frame, and I could have just put molle panels on the sides and camper on top…I still can.
5. USA products and USA company & team.
6. Putting it together was delightful. I’m an engineer, and a tinkerer, and it took me two entire weekends to assemble the entire cap. I found the work genuinely fun, challenging and I had to use all my tools, and get to buy new ones! It was tricky and not easy whatsoever, but I’m a hands-on sort of person, so it was awesome.
CONS:
1. Putting it together was very challenging. While I enjoyed it, I could definitely see how anyone who is not mechanically inclined would end up with a disaster. If IKEA furniture challenges you, don’t even start. It isn’t easy. The videos are very helpful, but there’s gaps and discontinuous parts. I had to figure a few things out myself, and you have to be slow, methodical and don’t tighten anything prematurely.
2. It does struggle with being watertight. I was told up front about this, but I didn’t want to add silicone sealant to the locations they recommended. There was a full night of wind and rain on my camping trip, and I experienced only minor drips, as the picture shows, no more than the almost negligible leakage already part of the stock tonneau cover. Overall, the inside of my camp setup remained completely dry.
[Full Disclosure: I do not work for CybertruckCo, nor know any of the personnel there prior to my purchase. I purchased the Bed Cap at retail price (I did get it sale priced, but a sale price available to anyone), and I received no discounts, preferential treatment or other benefits on any of my purchases for writing this review.]
