Thought I'd share some data. I installed the roof rack by @CYBERTRUCKco this weekend. I do not plan to leave it on the truck but wanted to see the range impact. So far just one drive but it looks like a 13% impact to Wh/Mi (346 vs 306 average). You can see the breakdown below (10/7 drive is with the rack) all are using FSD with speed at +10% (except on the freeway - I go ahead and bump it up to 75 so I'm not the slowest car on the road). Will gather a few more trips before removing it (I just need the rack a couple times a year).

Tesla Cybertruck Roof Rack effect on Cybertruck's efficiency & range -- my measured data 1728305447431-ae

Thanks for posting your numbers. How do you feel about the it so far?

13% feels high to me assuming your cross bars are empty without attached items but I have not installed any cross bars so it’s only my gut reaction.

It is a pretty solid rack and I like the use of heavy duty extruded aluminum with T-slots. This will make my planned customizations easy. One thing I don't like about it is it is not easy to remove or install. Attachment nuts can only be (awkwardly) accessed after removing the vertical supports so I will have to partially disassemble it each time.

I wasn't too surprised at the number. There is noticeable wind noise now. At first I though I had left a window cracked.

Hey, thanks for the write up and sharing! Can we share your graph on our page?

It’s been so long since our Cybertruck has been stock. We don’t ever remember getting anywhere near that kind of mileage.

I agree. Your percentage change is probably valid, but your absolute efficiency numbers are very suspect. Do you have the correct vehicle type selected in TeslaFi?

Must be because I removed the side mirrors! ;) There *is* a 230ft drop in elevation over the 20 mile trip which probably explains some of it. I only shared the one direction.

My trip home today (opposite direction - 230ft elevation increase) was 394Wh/mi in TeslaFi compared to 406Wh/mi in the truck. Average over the previous 5 trips home before adding the rack was 352 wH/mi so similar impact (12%).

I just checked. I do have "Cybertruck Tri Motor" selected. I noticed they have a calibration field in that same menu so I just changed it from 1.0 to 1.03 and now TeslaFi matches the in-car number.

10% less range is about what I get with my Thule aerobars on my Mazda, so... Kinda expected.

Thanks for asking. No problems sharing the data - I think it is sufficiently anonymized.

All that sounds right.

Do oyu have our mirror delete by chance? Can you share how that affected range without the rack?

I did my own cover and, unfortunately, did not do a proper "before" baseline (I removed the mirrors within a week of bringing it home).

I wonder what the effects would be with the factory crossbars and the popular Thule roof box I have in my garage…
