I won't judge you for making your own choices (well, not out loud anyway) but don't let mythical "rust" drive the decision. Any surface will need maintenance, depending on your appearance requirements.
This exactly.

I’ve been driving the truck for almost 6 weeks. I’ve not noticed any corrosion or the fables “rust spots” on my truck.

I agree tho that my appearance requirements are very low. I don’t care about fingerprints, dirt, mud, patina etc.

If someone is wanting a shiny truck that’s easy to keep shiny and bright, this one probably isn’t for you.

another issue with Tesla........$100k for a truck that you have to detail to get "rust or rust like particle" off......after two days of ownership.....and by doing so, you "cut" a layer of stainless off..
Any vehicle can have rail dust or other surface contaminants which need to be physically removed. There is a reason clay bars and buffing compounds are sold. There are good reasons to have second thoughts about purchasing a CT but this is not one of them.

So not getting a CT because you have to give it some love after pickup? You have to wash it at some point I would think? Im horrified at the thought of rust (OCD trigger), but it's easily solvable and after 4 years of waiting I can put in a bit of effort for a bad*** vehicle!

Just to check in here. There is definitely a ton of rail dust on mine. I'm still working through all of it. One of the spots, as I cleaned, it looked more and more like it was pitted. But by the time I was finished with it, The surface was perfectly smooth. Took 3 hits of BKF, increasing the amount of time I let it sit each application before scrubbing, no longer than 60 seconds.

But of course, even if it's filthy, stainless will come back true ^-^

I have had my truck for 2 weeks 0 complaints. I have been in road salt, rain, and washed twice before. The other day I got a wash again and had rust spots all over the tailgate.

Disclaimer, the tailgate metal did not rust, the spots all appeared to be from metal that had stuck to the tailgate either from before the wash or from the wash.

Either way it was a bitch to get off. I used bar keepers friend, glass clean did nothing.

Well congrats! Hope you enjoy it.

I’ve been driving mine for 6 weeks in the mountains with snow, sleet, salt and other assorted nastiest with zero issues. Haven’t even washed it yet.

Maybe you can use your extensive knowledge and experience and give us an update on how often and how much time it takes you to keep it “rust free” after you actually have it? 😂😂
