Yeah! It is. Compared to human flesh all steel is too strong. You might dent it, but that won't be enough to stop it from killing you.

Most agree that a Tri Motor version is not needed with the Quad Motor announcement. I'd be rather shocked if Tesla offered it.
I'm waiting for the Penta-Motor

If unyielding steel was a disqualifying factor, they would have to impound every vehicle on the road made before about 1979.
I remember when, a freeway speed, a guy cut me off with this little compact truck. I swerved to the median because stopping was something the '73 Nova did not do well, and not in heavy traffic. It almost always sent me into a slight spin in some direction. And then there was a change from gravel median to concrete barrier like, right ahead. He'd slammed on the brakes because duh, there wasn't room.

So I gunned the motor to get back on the highway and and just went through the truck. His front tire tore up a thin sliver of the corner panel and pushed it against my tire. The sliver then cut a line through his tire, opened up the side of his truck like a tin can and through the other tire.

And then he tried speeding off. I pulled off to the side, my heart racing. I wasn't about to take a concrete barrier at 65 for some numb-nuts. And then the car wasn't moving so well.

I tried to give him insurance info but he'd come to a rest a half mile away at an exit and was threatening with a tennis racket a witness who'd come to help him. I just went back to the car and cried. Hi-Po showed up and I never heard from the guy again. Apparently they said my choice to go through him was better than hitting the median, 'cause this meant we got off the road safely.

My spouse fixed the Nova's dent with a crowbar and a sledge hammer and said I hadn't hurt it at all.

…'73 Nova…
What is a bit of a curiosity about those older cars is while they were tougher and arguably easier to repair, they were less safe than their crumblier more modern counterparts. A 90s Saturn might well have faired a lot worse in a similar collision. But if it had been a significantly worse collision, your chances of surviving in the Saturn were much higher.

It’ll be interesting to see how Tesla’s attempt to make a truck which is tough as those older cars but much safer turns out in terms of collisions. I’m sure they will nail the safety aspects, just wondering about repairs.

Since we’re on the topic of crash protection.

On the earnings call, Musk was talking about the feedback loop they get the benefit of with owning their own insurance company.

Owning their own insurance, Tesla has a huge incentive to make vehicle repairs as affordable as possible. They also gain a sort of instant feedback loop. If something they do to the car makes them less repairable or more prone to expensive damage, they can find ways to make the most commonly damaged parts/ panels more affordable to repair

I hope that they put all wheel steering on all models. It makes for a safer truck ,and you’ll enjoy it for the life of the truck. You can’t do a over the air update for that one

The reality is there is no CyberTruck yet, and no variants.

Where did Dillion get his information? A couple of months ago Tesla said they were going to come out with the Quad first, with the Tri-motor being dropped......
show me and everyone here where and when Tesla said the Tri-motor is being dropped!
I call it gossip!

Yes you can! They can include the hardware in all vehicles, but only enable it OTA for a fee. They already do this is other features like NoA and some performance modes.

My biggest fear in a crash is that the mobile charger will hit me in the back of the head and kill me

"Most" is your opinion and a made up stat that means absolutely nothing and certainly doesn't mean a version was eliminated. I'm guessing all the "experts" conditioning us for inflated pricing are also part of this "most" crowd.
tell me the price difference and then I'll tell you if the Tri is needed or not. The Dual doesn't fit my needs, and a Quad might be too rich for me. I can afford a 69k Tri, not a 89k Quad.

yes..... saying the angled front of a CT is more dangerous than the 24" utterly flat front of a ICE truck is ludicrous.

Left hand turns are included. You need to pay a $199/ month subscription to enable right hand rear wheel steering.

Just guessing but I suspect
Dual Motor will be 65k
Trimotor 80k
Quad 95k
Plaid 110k

Given how fast they have raised their prices amongst their S3XY line up I can’t imagine they would the honor original pricing. That being said I do really hope our prices are locked in but I’m not holding my breath.
Yeah so I was way off 😬
