Many people got excited and put down the low $100 for a reservation (me included). It seems that even Elon was surprised at the number of reservations. Now that it is established that people want it, should Tesla increase the dollar amount to see how serious people are as well as raise capitol to build the Cyber Gigafactory? In light of the current global conditions I don't think this is a great idea today. But once things get back to "normal" who would be in favor of a reservation increase? If so, what amount would you be willing to put up? $500, $1000, $2500, or more? Would they be allowed to do this or are they locked into $100?

I'm serious about my reservation and I would like a better idea of where I stand in line. I wouldn't blink and would be happy to put $2,500 or 5k down today.

For me, I’d probably go as high as $5k. There’s still a lot of unknowns with the CT, so more than that would be tough.

I think going back on the $100 would send the wrong message. But maybe some sort of extra incentive for people that are willing to commit more money at an earlier date. Maybe free supercharging for a period of time based on how much you put down now. Or a custom engraving like the old iPods. ?

I'm serious too and wouldn't mind upping my reservation. The free supercharging period would be nice perk for that.

I was looking at the reservation spreadsheet last night and it's at 635k. That's $63M in capital generated just from pre-orders! That's a drop in the bucket for automotive manufacturing and Gigafactory construction, but still an impressive figure.

I concur. I own a bunch of TSLA stock. I'm more than willing to help finance a new CYRBTRK factory. I'm for a $500 deposit from everyone on the list. Let's see...600,000 reservations now? No? Some will drop out. Okay, say 500,000 of us like-minded dudes throw some more money on the pile. Two hundred fifty million ought to get the attention of the nay-sayers. And buy a few acres in Texas. But honestly, I'd stand in line for $1,000, just as I did for my Model 3. 'Com on, Elon. Call our bluff.

I'm the guy who posted that I'd be willing to pay $500 or even a $1.000 in a good faith gesture, as I did with my Model 3. But yeah, I concur with you...Elon should make it fully refundable. Two years is a long time to wait. I can't hold my breath that long.

I'm wondering when I should tell my wife what the $100 was for.....
When my wife saw the charge she asked what it was. I told her we could be going all electric in 2022. She said, "Are you going make me drive a sedan?" She had never even heard of the CT.

"No honey, sit down and brace yourself..." After the initial shock wore off she has started to warm to the idea.

If it did happen, I am wondering how Tesla would word their notification? Would we get an e-mail one day saying, "Hi, time to Supercharge or pull out the handle, the reservation fee is now $1000 so please send in $900 more so we can weed out the pretenders and thin down the herd."?

Just wondering...

Why would they want thousands of people to take back the free loan they have given Tesla?
I would have never talked my wife into a reservation if it had been a $1000.
That was the reason I didn’t have a Model Y reservation.
