My guess is no, but we haven't heard either way. So... *shrugs* maybe...? But I personally don't think it is likely since we haven't see any hint of it.

Yep if you notice in the latest set of hi res pics of the interior you will see a plate on the side right above the mirror. My guess is if you open that up the screws and brackets are there for you to remove the mirror.

I’m responding to those suggesting that what you’ve circled is access to remove the side mirror.

what you’ve circled cannot be where the side mirror is fixed/attached, because the side mirror is not fixed to the A2 pillar, it’s attached to the door at its window sill

If you’re instead suggesting that something *else* is behind the panel you’ve circled, I don’t know. I assume until otherwise it’s a speaker (my comment to that point was tongue-in-cheek) - as that’s the common location for a tweeter in vehicles/trucks

if you’re instead suggesting eg a wiring harness could be there, or even a screen/monitor replacement for the side-views, I’m agnostic but dubious

also, on the new 3s, this is where the blind spot monitor light is located. I’d assume CT has this there, or as an option can be placed there

Based on this leaked photo of the drivers door skin I would say yes. You can see the cutout for the mirror. I would guess the mirror is mounted to the inner door structure.

Maybe Tesla will offer a blank SS plate through its genuine accessories.

I would imagine they will make a mirror delete kit with a stainless steel plate that covers the area where the mirror was attached to the door. Hopefully with a seal for weatherproofing. $30 dollar kit I hope

No, the mirrors are welded onto the exterior of the door, they cannot be removed without a cutting torch or a cutoff wheel.

I usually suffer from premature anticipation, i still reckon that is a compartment, and the lid pivots to allow storage, and also access to remove the mirror.
