So what's the consensus on tinting?

The girl at the shop got nauseous when I showed her one photo of what I see while driving. She stated that they have had issues in the past with CT’s and that they’ve even sent their rolls back in to be examined. They are removing the 45 and replacing it with 70. She said they have not had any issues with 70 and it’s been about 50/50 with the 45. Keeping my fingers crossed as I love having the tint.

I’m having the exact same issues. I have had the tint replaced once and am currently sitting in the CT waiting for the tint shop to open so I can have them remove it again. Unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be able to have a tinted windshield which I absolutely love but the double vision I get is awful.

I have Xpel, wondering if a different brand may work or if I’m just stuck. The slant of the windshield is what exacerbates the issue I believe.
Double vision? What? No idea if it’s the product or the technique but mine NEVER does that. Like factory glass but darker is the only way I can describe it.
Would you like to ask my guy exactly what he used?

Yeah that would be great. It’s a nice shop full of Ferraris and Bentley’s. They did our MY and my side windows without any issues.

Respectfully, I couldn’t disagree more especially in Arizona. Without a doubt the best mod I’ve done to the Cybertruck. By a mile.

also agree. and remember that the vlt isnt what gets you savings, just privacy. I put 70 vlt with high UV blocking on my windshield and it makes a huge difference in ambient cabin temp which saves huge on battery.

Yeah. The picture is horrible. I’d be back there complaining too but all I’m saying is that it is possible to do that nicely.

The shop has been great, unfortunately I’m becoming more confident that it’s the glass and the extreme angle. I just got unlucky I guess.

One more possible approach if you think that’s the case is take it to Tesla and if the service monkeys say…”it’s your tint shop” you can say, “fine, I’ll pay you to do your xpel in-house thing”. Then If it turns out the same, you’ve pretty much cornered them into replacing the windshield.
That’s better than rolling the dice with an insurance claim and way better than paying outright for an expensive-ass Cybertruck windshield.

Interesting approach, do they actually do it in house? When I bought it through the app for our MY it sent me to the current shop.

This is what they are installing today. Hoping for the best.
Good luck. Let us know how it turns out.

either way…it’s even better if it’s the shop they contract with. Less money for you.
If it’s still looks like that, I’d go to Tesla and say…hey, the shop you send your cars to couldn’t get this right after multiple attempts and says it’s the glass.
