Don't know which company manufactured this but here is flexible solar panel wrap installed on a Cybertruck at CES 2025.

Cost is $10K (includes the 5kw battery inverter) and warrantied to 15 years.

a 5kw battery inverter ... so does that mean in perfect conditions it can charge at up to 5kw? That's pretty decent but seems a little surprising considering what I have seen from other solar panel setups that have panels pointed directly at the sun vs this where your just hoping the angles line up.

This looks like a fantastic product!! The cost seems too good to be true? A normal full application of PPF will run you about $7000, labor included. I imagine it won't be long until they are able to print different patters or solids for the design on the vinyl? My first reservation would be the fact that there are Cybertruck haters here in Washington state, where I live (not to mention the lack of sun-power), who impulsively try to damage our Cybertrucks. Another potential problem is the space for the battery... I wouldn't want to take up vault-bed space with it because I use my vault quite a bit already.

Funny guy in the video, if it is so great , why not showing company name. Just for laugh, the protection wraps is already $5-$6k. This solar wrap cost only $10K. I doubt the power it generate will be any significant. Sure! it will charge, but how much power it generates.

For me that's about 80 cents of electricity per day. If I round up to saving me $1 a day the break even point is about 27 years.

It definitely does not mean that. At 100% efficiency, one can only get about 1 kW per square meter. The module shown there gets about 100W/m^2, so with maybe 6 m^2 to work with, you are looking at about 500W in mid-day sun. Basically, you'd be hard pressed to charge faster than vampire drain on the CT based on what people have been posting.

It just doesn't make sense. Every year, it seems, another bozo thinks they were the first to think of putting solar panels on an EV. Most usually talk to an engineer or someone who understands math and physics before they make a fool of themselves but there are always a few who slip through.
