I don't think the CT change in size was very substantial and that was a while ago now since that was being discussed.

The gigapress is still being used for the CT, primarily for the front and read castings. One of the 9kt ones is build and will be shipped soon.
oh I guess I’m super late to the party! Where do I find all this information. Here I thought They couldn’t build them at all until the 9kt press was built. What’s holding the manufacturing back? Chips, Lithium?

The 9k ton press is the biggie. Hopefully it’ll be operational by fall.

All the information is spread all over in little bits. Like a scavenger hunt where half the clues turn out to come from people who have no idea what they are talking about. (Not pointing at anyone in this conversation)

Speak for yourself! ;) ;)

Teslarati.com seems to be a good resource most of the time although they can be quite Tesla fanboys. There's also Electrotek or a series of youtube channels. Otherwise it is a lot of cobbled together info, but conversation here also has its own value sometimes.

Definitely only after a considerable amount of US orders are delivered.

It could be up to 2 years after production start, and if you're 2021, I'd probably say 2025 atm? Thats still a fair way out for us here. I have a US order about 40minutes after release that I'm looking to get delivered in the USA, and another 4 here.

I'm still hoping for an Aussie giga factory announcement, but am not holding my breath the way the markets are going atm and heading for recession.
Giga in Au would be great but I think Indonesia has wone that

I think they were only talking battery lines there, at least initially.

WA would best for a battery line, but SA or so for giga.

I'm actually wondering if an CT assembly plant might also be possible in a distributed fashion. You know like bateries from Indonesia, casts from Austin and body and assembly in AU. Why ship a whole car if you can just do a few specialised parts and assemble the car in country?

Two problems are not adressed in that design.
1. Small problem - bears
2. Big problem - mosquitoes

Yes, like most things truck-related we discuss on this website ^-^
This site is like Alcoholics Anonymous role-play, for alcoholics who struggle with drinking one very specific alcohol... that's not out yet. And, we have no intention of not drinking it to delirium.

both problems would be addressed with a midgate that lets you enter the bed when the tonneau is closed: no mosquitoes and no bears can enter CT stainless steel body and cover
