I wanted a clean way to mount my starlink mini on the roof rack without having to run a cable into the bed. I found this adapter on Amazon and cut it to expose the wires and kept the male end as a water proof plug when the cable is not utilized.

I then stripped down the roof power feeds and connected. Black to outside wire negative and red to inside wire positive.

Got it powered on with the roof power button from inside and all working as expected!

Just gotta heat shrink and tape to button it all up!

I was able to put it in the back seat stuck to the glass roof just behind the driver. Bought a 10' Starlink to usb-c cable and power it off of one of the back seat usb-c jacks in the center console. Easy, secure, turns on/off with the truck.

The wire just drapes down and coils up in the seat back pocket of the driver's seat. Then the other end comes out of the pocket and plugs into the rear center console jack.

I still have to figure out how to have it ON when I'm outside the truck. Just haven't had the time...

The pic on upload/download readings is from just sitting in a parking lot.

The new pricing plan @ $10/mo for 10gb make it reasonable to not have to pause/unpause all the time.

Where do you find the $10/month for 10Gb plan?
I’ve looked on the website and don’t see it.

Google it and it will come up with Starlink's process of getting to the $10/mo plan. You have to be on the $50 plan and then go in to switch your plan to get the option to switch to the $10 plan.

I'm just in my first month of service @ $50 so I haven't switched yet. Be aware that the overage charge with the $50 plan is $1/GB and the overage plan for the $10 plan is $2/GB. My next months usage will be high so I probably won't throttle back till July. I think the $10/mo plan is easier than pausing and unpausing it.

BTW, I noticed I don't have the power cable plugged into the dish in the picture. I'll try to get some updated pics today and post them.

You have to start on the $50/50gb month plan for at least a month. Then you can switch to “idler” plan $10/ 10 gb.

I was debating the inside suction cup but a few things had me go with the external mount
  • Was reading a few instances of it not holding up very well and falling off. Maybe unless you went with the industrial strength ones.
  • I have the roof sun shade which prevents this option without taking that down.
  • There was some post about how much emf the thing gives off and I’m usually traveling with the kids so just an extra concern there.
  • Maybe I’ll get faster speeds with direct line of sight?

Thanks, guys! 👌
I’ll start StarLink $50 and do the plan switch later.

Bravo, I’m loving it! Always cool seeing all the DIY magic around here. Thanks for sharing! I guess I’ll be cruising around with the lightbar lit—on the bright side, if the lightbar’s on, that means Starlink’s live too. Dual-wielding beams and bandwidth lol...

This one is low profile and works great. Have not had any issue with it coming off... and even off road driving.

Also it fits under the roof glass shade... no problem. I run the power down the back window in between the rear seat, under and to the rear plug. Just another option.....

Here’s a suction cup mount I designed for the Starlink Mini. We use really strong suction cups with a bit of adhesive on the back for extra hold, but the best part is how easy it is to use.

A lot of other mounts make you take the whole thing off just to remove your Starlink, but ours stays put—you can just pop the Mini in and out whenever you need. It’s been super handy on trips where I use it in the Cybertruck for the drive, then take it with me when I stop to hike or camp.

If you’ve been looking for a no-hassle way to mount your Mini, you can check it out here: https://contronx.com

Happy to answer any questions!

I have my mini powered from the top power as well and a light bar also powered. I have the light bar controlled separately by a wifi controller that I bought from Amazon. I don’t think it’s legal to drive on city streets with the light bar on. The light bar I use is also a 24v and used a step down voltage adapter inline with the controller.

Select outlets and “keep power on” (or words to that effect) and then use camp mode
