On a recent post, I shared that I expected a long wait time for the recall repair of the inverter on my AWD CyberTruck. It looks as though 2 months is the lead time and I just came from the service center, that all depends on when they actually receive the repair parts.

I decided I would look into trading my AWD Foundation Series CyberTruck in for a CyberBeast if I could take delivery sooner as I can’t risk driving my truck (my only vehicle) long distances if there’s a possibility of the inverter breaking. I went to Tesla’s trade in estimator, entered my VIN, and then received a text from a Tesla Representative who shared that “…At this time we're not accepting any Cybertruck trade-ins.” Not for upgrades or anything else. I’m not sure what I would get for the Foundation Series AWD, but based on Tesla’s response, I think I might be lucky to get 75% of what I paid for it. This is deeply concerning.

Same over here. I wanted to upgrade to the Beast (not because of any issues or recalls just want faster) and was told not accepting trade ins.

Tough because would mean that I'd have to pay sales tax again in the state I'm from. So I'm most likely going to hold off

Your purchase agreement likely precludes you from selling for one year. So how do you expect to trade it in?

Maybe if you were one of the first deliveries last year you'll be able to trade it in a few weeks once your one-year prohibition on transfers has elapsed. Otherwise a year is a year.

As for losing 20-30% in the first year, that happens with most high-end/expensive vehicles when you roll off the lot the first time. Nothing new to see here. You may be able to get by with a 10-15% loss with a private sale, but this isn't a Tesla or Cybertruck thing.

It seems like the obvious answer is because it is going back to Tesla ... not sold elsewhere.
Also see purple.

Your purple section also notes an important condition "Tesla agrees that your reason warrants an exception to the no reseller policy". What we saw earlier this year is someone wanting to trade in or upgrade did not meeting Tesla's qualifying criteria for an exception.

Based on earlier posts whoever sold their Cybertruck, Tesla contacted them and blocked them from getting new vehicles, but there was no report about Tesla going to court about the monetary part. Nowadays they no longer seem to block people either and this section is no longer in the new contract anyways.

Yeah, never in a million years did I think purchasing the CyberTruck for $20K to keep my place in line would involve complete and total failure of the drive train when the converter went bad 4 days after buying it in March and waiting an additional 3 weeks for a repair with no loaner or compensation. I also never expected several additional recalls and now the inverter recall which drastically increases my risk of an accident. My CyberTruck is my primary vehicle and Tesla has informed me that it here’s no time line of when they will receive the replacement part. I think I’m well within my right to trade in a vehicle that I overpaid for that clearly doesn’t run as intended. There have been so many misleading statements about this vehicle for the last 5 years, we just accept them because what other choice do we have?

the CyberTruck was my 4th Tesla vehicle in the last decade… Tesla service has dropped off a cliff.

At that point they should buy it back. no trade-in needed. Not sure what the lemon laws are in your jurisdiction but might be worth a look and a politely worded letter from your attorney to the arbitration address in your purchase agreement.

What’s your states lemon law? Go for that.

I don’t think the 1
Year sale thing is a thing anymore and they removed that , I think maybe they don’t want a bunch of used CTs on there website because it would bring value down and people would buy the used one for cheaper so they are maximizing there sales for a little longer .
honestly back a few years ago when I was thinking of saleing our first model 3 Tesla gives crap on trade ins and places like carmax and carvana were offering WAY more for it. Even the Tesla person on the phone told me I might want to look at them over Tesla . I wouldn’t even want to trade it to them for that reason alone

I am sure there are people willing to buy your FS series CT for 25% discount right now if that's of concern. The main issue is that contract clause.
