June 21, 2020 Update (by Administrator)

Elon Musk has just announced a September 15 date for a combined Tesla Shareholder Meeting & Battery Day. It will include a tour of cell production system. (y)

May 15, 2020 Update (by Administrator)

Battery Day has been pushed to next month and may be done in two parts. Said Musk on twitter last night:
“We’re going to have to push out the date or attendance will be very low. Maybe do in two parts: webcast next month & in-person event a few months later?”

April 29, 2020 Update (by Administrator)

In the Q1 earnings call going on right now, Elon just said they're targeting the third week of May to hold Battery Day, either in California or Texas.

April 15, 2020 Update (by Administrator)

Musk tweeted overnight that despite previous comments, Tesla Battery Day will focus on discussing batteries and not powertrain topics. But they'll field some powertrain questions in the Q&A.

Original post:

I am not going to claim I understand everything in this video however I am really interested in the battery technology that will be available for the CT. What do you think we will hear on battery day?

Updates on the million mile battery and higher energy density Maxwell had the ability to reach 300 or 350 w/kg with a path to 500 in near future.

another prediction is efficiently with towing.
Example Tesla semi 620 mile range unloaded and 500 mile range loaded. So i am thinking that might be some insight to how the cybertruck will perform.

Published just today, here is another video predicting Tesla's announcements on battery investor day.
It covers the issue from several angles. If you know battery tech you could skip the first five minutes..
It's pretty matter-of-fact, nothing stood out as being over-hype.

Given the Hibar and Maxwell acquisitions I have to think that they will be talking about using those companys' technologies to produce substantially (but not dramatically) higher specific energy batteries, and thus ones at commensurately lower weight and cost and with commensurately less carbon load. They have also patented a new way of packaging and cooling the cells (involving bathing them in a dielectric coolant) and I think that may be announced. The overall effect of this will, I expect, be the availability of longer range vehicles (the advertised 500 mile range of the CT probably depends on this) and shorter range vehicles at reduced price. Longer warranties too?

There is so much that they might cover, it's going to be very exciting to see where Tesla is with batteries. It now appears that they are going to be in a few different spheres with batteries because they need more and more of them. I think they will discuss:
-Cobalt Free for China (CATL)
-Maxwell & HIbar
-Dry Battery mfg (Maxwell)
-SuperCapacitors ? for Semi???
-Work with University researchers (Goodenough & Team in TX, Canada university)
-Batteries for Semi
-Batteries for Plaid
-Batteries for Roadster 2
-Megapacks, Powerwalls, energy storage
-TeraFactory - How to get to 2 Terawatts mfg
-Longer Range
-Lower Costs per kW
-Lower weight
-Local battery mfg at each GF

Well, it's finally April now. Who's excited for Battery Day!

(Although I'm anticipating a delay due to COVID-19). Stay safe everyone! ?

Tesla battery day was supposed to happen sometime in April with Elon saying in the Q4 earnings call, "Battery Day people. Wait until Battery Day. It's gonna blow your mind. It blows my mind, and I know it! " (Now, it may be delayed because of COVID19, but who really knows anymore?!)

In preparation, I want to hear everyone's predictions! What will we learn, what do we have to look forward to?

My best guesses:
1. Updates on what Maxwell tech will give the next gen Tesla batteries (could we see a CT range of 700miles?!)
2. Updated range estimates
3. Update as to where this new battery production will be or is already taking place. (I think there is more to this...I think there is some technological advance like a self constructing manufacturing line, or something along that line)
4. New factory location, where CYBERTRUCK will be built
5. Tesla semi starting production

Yea I think they'll talk about the acquisition of Maxwell. They'll probably talk a bit about the plans to convert the Moss Landing power plant in California to a battery plant, which will be the biggest in the world.

10x Bigger New Tesla Battery Plant Approved

I'm hoping there'll be Cybertruck specific stuff discussed since Tesla's been pretty quiet on it since reveal (besides Musk's few tweets).

Okay, here goes: "Elon, tell us more about:"
Integration of Maxwell technology and how soon and what can we expect?
Location of the CYBRTRK plant
Start of construction of the CYBRTRK factory
Update on specifics of the CYBRTRK (ladder rack, mirrors, access to vault from the cab, camping mode, tank-turn option, etc.
Update on Telsa insurance roll out across America
Break out of energy revenue vs car sales revenue
Details/description of the various buildings in the Shanghai factory
Mix of different models of Tesla to come out of the Shanghai factory
Location of the semi-truck factory
Anticipated date of the start of construction of the semi factory
Any truth to rumors of a new factory in Brazil? Or any other country?
Next great thing in battery development, other than Maxwell?
What is the latest and greatest; the newest and most shiny; the coolest, craziest and most chilled-out thing you HAVEN'T revealed to us yet?
