Tesla is continuing with the construction of the Battery Factory at Giga Berlin, which will produce the innovative 4680 tabless battery cells. The strong foundation for the building will soon be completed, as the company has now installed the first reinforced concrete pillar.

Video reviews of the construction progress of Giga Berlin give a good understanding of what is happening at Tesla's construction site in Germany. During another drone flyby, Tobias Lindh/Twitter noticed that the construction of the Battery Factory had reached a new milestone. On July 31, the first reinforced concrete pillar was installed to support the building that will produce the world's most innovative battery cells.

The 4680 battery cell production building will be the tallest of all Phase 1 buildings. The Battery Factory is 25.26 meters high, while the Paint Shop, currently the tallest building, is 24.35 meters. From the photographs, we can see that the foundation for the building is being built to be very solid. This is due to how much load it has to carry. The production equipment, as the materials for the production of battery cells, is very heavy, therefore extra strength is required.

Giga Berlin will produce 50-gigawatt hours of battery cells annually, enough to produce about 670,000 Model Ys or Model 3s per year. When the factory is completed, it will be the largest battery manufacturing plant in Europe. However, this is only an initial plan, and in the future, Tesla CEO Elon Musk hopes to produce around 250 gigawatt-hours per year. “I can even imagine expanding to 200 to 250 GWh,” he said. "I'm pretty sure that that would make it the largest battery factory in the world."
