I ordered my 3 motor cybertruck during the unveiling. My reservation number is "RN112749075". My friend ordered his 2 motor cybertruck 3 days after the unveiling, his reservation number is RN112800341. Which means he's 51,266 reservations down the line from me. He received notification yesterday (12/12) to configure his "Foundation Series" -Which I understand only 1,000 of them are being made. We both live in San Diego California. I'm super stoked for him that his reservation got pushed up from what should have been end of year next year, to now getting his, probably this month (December 2023). It seems Tesla is not following their own reservation order, which seems unfair to those of us who were further up in line. And of course, there is no phone number or email address you can reach where something like this could be addressed. Has anyone else had a similar experience? -very disappointed.

Does your Tesla account have an address in either CA or TX?

I have zero budget constraints surrounding the purchase of any version of the truck and I still can not understand people foaming at the mouth to overpay for one asap knowing they are signing up for teething issues with the trucks and eating a mountain of depreciation in the process.

First off, YOLO

Secondly, depreciation only matters when you plan to sell. I drove my last car for 10 years and I plan to drive this truck even longer

It also matters in terms of insurance and GAP coverage if you’re financing. Totally respect driving the truck a long time but that lends even more credence to my point about avoiding first batch gremlins

If you’re buying a new car and you’re factoring depreciation in already you can’t afford it or shouldn’t buy it. I’ve kept every car I’ve purchased for 10 to 12 years. Depreciation is not a concern or factor. Pay what you can afford to pay, it’s your money. I don’t presume to tell people what to do with theirs.

I don’t think I’ve seen anyone who ordered three days after the event and is 11280… I ordered the morning after and am 11282 which is 74,00 and aligns with every other person I’ve seen share their number.

His email in his inbox from “[email protected]” titled “Thank you for your order” is dated 11/24/19? I would verify and not rely on memory if you haven’t already. Still strange he got his invite before you based on number unless he owns a bunch of Teslas + stock + referrals or something.

I wonder if we're seeing a sort of advertising tactic. Why go through the numbers in order when you can cherry pick numbers that can spread the CT as wide as possible. I dunno. I'm just guessing. Cybertruck is a billboard. Plop one billboard in each big city in the beginning, work out from there. That's kinda how they planned their showroom move, right? New York, San Jose, Buena Park, San Diego, Tampa, Miami, Chicago, Seattle, Houston, Boston... They're going big cities and wide out first, numeric order second.

If you’re in a position to pay a premium to get an early one, where you don’t have the financial constraints that some people have, then such a gap issue would be merely an inconvenience. In that instance where it gets totaled or stolen your bigger problem is how long it’ll take to get a replacement, not the loss of $10k or $20k

No need to advertise what you can’t sell. As long as there is a wait list 1 million strong any attempt at advertising is pointless

I ran into this issue in 2006 when I put a deposit down on a Saturn Sky Redline. GM had billboards advertising it despite the fact that there was over a year wait list because they were cranking them out so slowly. Really pissed me off actually
