If you have noticed it yet, #ApartheidElon's success went to his head.

But actually, from my son who used to worked for Tesla, Elon is this kind of bully inside the company -- the reason why he had high turn over of executives and key Tesla professionals, and too, with his wives.
He seems to have an uncompromising personality and an unrelenting drive. That is probably one of the reasons why he is able to achieve his visions/plans for the company. Yeah, that could be hard to work with though.

Me thinks it goes beyond unrelenting drive. Noticed how when Tesla will be meeting targets, he'll do the quarter-end presentation and if it's a miss, it will be his CFO who'll be sent out for slaughter?

And the seemingly thoughtless yapping where he was already fined by SEC and now sued for make big announcement of his big dump of Tesla shares that tanked it's price in the market? Big stockholders would usually make bite size but multiple sale and do it with nary an announcement knowing the adverse effect on stock price and other investors.

The only credible mention of "drilling" in a wildlife preserve is an article that "...SpaceX inquired about reusing a defunct natural gas pipeline running through the Lower Rio Grande Valley National Wildlife Refuge." and that they also inquired about building a small power plant and using the pipeline to supplement a huge solar farm for SpaceX for powering their facility. And to also use the methane to purify their own methane for use as rocket fuel.

https://techcrunch.com/2021/10/08/the-mystery-of-elon-musks-missing-gas/

So where are you getting that he's trying to "drill" for oil and gas as if he's Exxon, when he's using abandoned sites and pipelines?

Maybe I'm missing the news. Please provide a good link.

Sorry friend, I looked. I need you to provide what YOU'RE reading. NOWHERE is there a mention of SpaceX asking for new drilling rights. The only stories I found are that they want to use existing abandoned facilities to extract and pipe methane from existing abandoned structures and infrastructure on land they either already own or plan to obtain.

Feel free to post a link pointing to where SpaceX is attempting to obtain the rights to drill new wells. I don't want to kill the thread with this any longer.

Tesla is communicating to customers who have ordered now-discontinued variants of vehicles that it will not honor retroactive pricing of the Full Self-Driving suite to when they reserved their vehicle.

In February, Teslarati reported that Tesla would not produce the Model Y Long Range Rear-Wheel-Drive variant. CEO Elon Musk later stated that the reason was that Tesla has ā€œtoo much product complexity already.ā€ However, Tesla had originally planned to honor the price of the FSD suite when customers had reserved their vehicles. For example, if the FSD suite was priced at $7,000 at the time of the reservation, Tesla would only charge the customer $7,000, despite its current $10,000 price tag. This was confirmed by Tesla employees in February.

Tesla officially eliminated the Model Y Long Range RWD earlier this month, finally communicating to reservation holders that it had no plans to produce the vehicle. Tesla advised Model Y LR RWD reservation holders to revise their orders by choosing a vehicle that it currently produces and pay the additional price, as Teslaā€™s vehicle prices have increased since then.

ā€œWeā€™re contacting you regarding your Model Y order [VIN] placed on March 15, 2019. Weā€™d like to help you update your configuration, as we do not build the configuration you originally selected. Weā€™re excited to support you through the process and deliver your reconfigured Model Y at your earliest convenience,ā€ Tesla wrote in an email on December 8th to one Model Y reservation holder, who agreed to pay the additional cost of the vehicle but requested a retroactive FSD pricing as a small discount for having to choose a new vehicle over two-and-a-half years after placing the order.

ā€œI tried to update the design, but the price jumped $20,000! And full-self-driving is now $10K, when I first reserved it, it was less than half that price. Can TESLA honor my original price for FSD since Iā€™m an early adopter?ā€ the reservation holder asked.

However, the reservation holder, who asked to remain anonymous, was told by Tesla staff that the company would not be honoring any old pricing.

ā€œThank you for your note. We will not be honoring any previous pricing. Once you update your configuration it will update to the current pricing,ā€ a Tesla employee told the reservation holder in an emailed statement.

Tesla did not immediately respond for comment.

The kind of customer relations I'd expect from Toyota or VW. Embarrassing

If they do that s$&t with the Cybertruck I will be pissed off big time. I am hopeful they wonā€™t discontinue the tri-motor but if they offer a quad as the first trim and donā€™t honor the FSD pricing I donā€™t know what Iā€™ll do ā€¦ probably not get FSD and join any class action against Tesla.

From the original article:

ā€œWeā€™re contacting you regarding your Model Y order...Once you update your configuration it will update to the current pricing."

I take this to mean these were fully-configured orders, not reservations like we have for the CT.

So I remain unconcerned.

I love/appreciate your confidence but this close to the start of production I donā€™t need bad news, real or imagined. Weā€™ve waited so longā€¦

And wouldnā€™t it be ā€˜worseā€™ if we had an order configured?

I argued that this would be their tactic back when this post originated. I started to see the cost rising in the economy and the changes to the CT. I believe they did this to buyers at one point that had orders for one of the other models. They basically said we don't want to honor the order so you either buy what we are currently offering or you wait forever. I almost can't blame them. Some folks will get super locked onto those original prices and go crazy if prices change so its almost easier to say that they aren't making that one so you need to pick a different one rather than just say, well we are just going to raise the price on the one you reserved. One thing is for sure, I doubt Elon is losing sleep over pricing with how much demand they have.
