I mean, the Rivian is nice and all, but the short bed and $$$$ make it an immediate non-starter compared to the CT, right?

Disregard the fact that I've been pining for another forest green car since my 1999 Escort.
Disregard the fact that that Forest Edge interior option is so...perfectly tasteful. An incredible combination of materials and design.
Disregard that we know a LOT about the R1T, and see some incredibly innovative uses of space that seem very functional and not contrived.
Disregard the fact that I can get one probably a year sooner than I'll get my CT (at least).
Disregard the fact that we camp 6x+ times a year with the kids and the planned destination chargers align with some of our favorite spots.

I'm trying to stay the course, guys, I really am. How do I stay faithful to my CT reservation?

And when you need the kiddies busy while camping and not out learning the hunt with their dad and mom, they can enjoy busting out their crayons during their down time on the Families CT. ? I mean, C’mon. The CT as a canvas is just one of the many uses it offers ?. Don’t worry kids. It’s ok, Its a blank canvas to enjoy. Just remember to thank Uncle Elon! This is a wonderful vehicle that has a 101 uses for the whole family to use and enjoy. Try using the Rivian or any other EV to color on. ?

Honestly that is a factor. The kids throw rocks at the CT? Unfortunate, but dad isn't angry. They do it to the Rivian? Dad's gotta go for a walk before he starts yelling.

Same for hunting. I just somehow feel it'll be less a problem to hose out the bed after filling it with pheasant in the CT vs. the Rivian.

Actually why disregard so many nice features?
The R1T is even better than F150.
BTW, I guess you are in the line for CT somewhere in front of me?

According to the tracker, I'm ~89k in line overall and ~23k trim-wise (dual motor). But I'm in Michigan, and we are typically very late in line when it comes to Tesla geo-based rollouts. I'm expecting late 2022 tbh, if not early 2023.

My two big hesitations about the R1T, and I feel like they are big, are the short bed and the significant cost differential. To trim out the R1T in the way I want is nearly $87k. That's $37k more than my reserved CT and still $17k more than if I upgrade to the tri-motor. I don't know that the nice features of the R1T make up that cost gap, and we don't know squat about CT features really so it could be just as cool.

The bed size is a bigger deal, too, as it means that anything I would normally toss into the bed will now need to be trailered. Can't really carry 8' boards well with only slightly more than half resting in the bed. Can't toss the kayaks in. Even the fixed kayak paddles will sway too much. So more emphasis on accessories (trailer, roof rack w/ attachments, bed fixtures).

But those are really it, and if I talk to myself long enough I can convince myself to overcome those hesitations. Which is why it's hard to sit and do nothing. I feel like I have significantly more information about the R1T than I do the CT, and I barely pay attention to the R1T while I cruise these forums every single day.

Which route will you regret more? Waiting for CT or buying another model?

which route will make you happy?

Use the ’spark joy’ technique, forget the name who is known for the technique.

Which one excites passion?

The one that's in my driveway the fastest will spark the most immediate joy.

The one that I can daily drive and use to influence my fellow rednecks to embrace EVs (like I have with my PacHY and Bolt) will be the most long-term joy.

I am not good at patience. I definitely failed the marshmallow test as a kid.

I am positioned to comfortably wait, understand no patience. Good fortune.

The marshmallow test sounds like what we are currently going through with Tesla stock. Part of the problem is how do you know that we will reliably be rewarded with the stock value doubling, let alone increasing.:ROFLMAO:

Don't underestimate the need for a mature charging network. Tesla stands alone in this critical feature. Have a look at charger reviews from the competition - they generally suck.

One surefire way Tesla can gin their stock, announce they will start paying dividends.

when the CT starts being produced and sold, what direction can the stock go?

If you like the truck, get the truck. If you can afford the R1T, get it. You will be driving an electric truck, people will see you and realize that electric is viable, and you will be able to use it how you need. I need an 8' bed, despite no E.V. having one. I use my truck for construction and material hauling. However, I am a minority in "truck loving" communities. If you need a truck for camping, or for fun, get the Rivian and get on with life earlier.

Look at Ct. Look at the price.
Look at Rivian Look at the price.
Look at your bank balance.
Look at the difference you save. Smile broadly.
