What does the Cyberbeast motor whine remind you of?

One of the most noticeable things in the Cybertruck and particularly the Cyberbeast is the motor whine. You don't hear that much motor whine in the model s, 3, x, and y which make little to no noise from the motors. The Cybertruck, however, has a decent amount of noise from the motors and I actually like it. There is a lot of motor noise while accelerating and decelerating, and also while cruising at a steady speed a little. Wondering what everyone's thoughts are on this motor noise in the Cyberbeast. What does it sound like to you, remind you of, and do you think they did anything different with the Cybertruck motor to make a louder sound than the s, 3, x, and y motors?

In this video you can hear the motor whine of the Cybertruck Cyberbeast a little while accelerating and decelerating.

And in this video you can hear the motor whine at a constant speed in most of the video.

Could it be gear whine from the reduction gears? Maybe they're straight-cut gears vs. traditional helical-cut. Straight cut is more efficient, cheaper and lighter to build and house, and typically stonger, but noisier. The only down side to straight cut is the noise.

Cheaper, lighter and more efficient definitely sounds like something Tesla would want to use.

That sounds pretty reasonable to me why it would make the noise then. The noise does seem to come from the motors to me personally though. Are there any other electric cars that use straight-cut gears?

In the Cyberbeast vs Hummer EV drag race done by CARWOW, when they hit higher speeds with the Cyberbeast, I could also hear a hum sound from the outside (like at 12:19 in the video for example) which is very interesting and I could also kind of hear a hum sound from the outside of the Hummer at high speeds too. In the videos mentioned earlier at the beginning of this thread, I only hear the loud whine of the motors sound. Maybe because CARWOW's cyberbeast was not a production cyberbeast. The Hummer has lots of wind, tire, and fake noise in the cabin so it is hard to hear the whine of the motors and hum sound in the inside but it is audible from the outside.

I think most serious race cars use straight-cut gears. This video demonstrates the sound of straight-cut gears really well:

I guess the Cybertruck does kind of sound a bit like that, high-pitched. I'm personally not sure to be honest if it uses straight cut gears though. Would be interesting if someone could ask the Cybertruck engineers if they used straight-cut gears for the Cybertruck.

With Teslas, the motors and reduction gearing are bolted together as a single unit, so determining which is producing the sound from within the cabin isn't really possible.

Oh okay. I personally wish the Cybertruck engineers would give more information and be more descriptive about the motors and gears they used.

Yep, I'm anxiously awaiting Munro's Cybertruck teardown. So far I haven't heard when they might get one though.

Yeah same. Hopefully then we can learn more about the motors and gears it uses I guess.

Yea I can't believe they don't have one yet. Seems like 40 different celebrities have one but Sandy doesn't.

There should be an option highlighted to point out if your vote is based on actually sitting in the CT and experiencing the noise first hand..

…because the Emperor is naked

Thank you so much for mentioning that. I should have thought about that earlier. I updated it to "I have rode in a Cyberbeast before" and "I have not rode in a Cyberbeast before". Is it better now or would you like me to do something else to the post?

Also, I think I made a grammar mistake should have used the word "ridden" and not "rode." Lol!

Also to everyone who votes on the poll. Sorry it is disorganized. All of them are choices for what it sounds like except for the two about riding a Cyberbeast before which I just want to know because the people who have ridden in one before my respond more authentically since they've experienced it first-hand. It didn't seem to allow me to edit, delete, or add any responses in between and the sounding like a highway is also an option for what it reminds you of. I just thought of it after asking whether the voter has ridden in one before or not.

Also, if you voted for something else, can you please comment in this thread what it reminds you of here if you don't mind sharing?

And this is what the dual motor Cybertruck sounds like while accelerating for anyone interested:

The dual motor and Cyberbeast sound different, most likely because Cyberbeast has more power.
