I had the extra slat installed. Did not help the water leak one bit. As stated above, all the water comes in between the roof glass and the appliqué.
Comes in in buckets, can't put anything rain vulnerable in the back

Can the tonneau cover be made waterproof? is the question I pose.
we just went through a rainstorm that was a few days long here in Los Angeles with reports of flooding in some parts
it even dropped a little hail and at some point, my backyard was under 2" of water
A lot of water came down so yesterday I'm doing some clean up.
open up my truck bed with my tools inside. and it's always fun to find your tools are under water and the toolbox is completely full of water. the moving blanket is also completely drenched. it was all dry when I put them in my truck under a cover.
I mean this kind of defeats the purpous right ?
is there a soulution?
Real solution to getting the vault dry.
1. A time machine to buy one of the trucks that was made with the extra slat and propper sealing, gets you 98% dry
2. Go to a service center 1-20x and hope to get the right person to do the fix.
3. Do what this guy I met at a supercharger did, and black silicone the whole thing, looked TERRIBLE but he said he used the truck for work and had some work tools destroyed by getting soaked. (he said it was OK that I took pictures and shared)

The cover itself is quite resilient to water, as there is little to no penetration between the slats nor at the sides. There is a little intrusion at the tailgate seal, but the real culprit is the gap between the tonneau appliqué and the roof glass. When poorly sealed, you can gently pour a glass of water on the roof and watch most of it splash into the bed.

There are fixes that involve improving the seal on the appliqué, such as this one:

This worked for me.
I want to do this, but I was wondering if it’s possible that the rubber seal might trap water inside. And then if that water freezes it could break the roof glass?

What an embarrassment. It’s pretty sad that a lot of service centers, including mine, say that “it’s not supposed to be waterproof” and that the leaks are “in spec”. Bullshit. Sloppy ass assembly is what it is.

That’s all well and good, I had an F-150 prior to this, and it wasn’t “waterproof” but it was nothing like my Cybertruck. I’m talking INCHES of rain leaking in this thing. I don’t mind dampness, or a few drops around the sides. It pours into the Cybertruck vault. Unacceptable.

Tesla Cybertruck Tonneau cover leaks 1767156821960-bi

I added a small piece of weatherstripping and haven’t had any leaks since.
It’s not meant to be watertight, but this certainly helps!
Didn’t have a drop of water in the bed from the socal rains last week, but I have seen some water in there after some pressure washing.

Did the exact same thing with my truck and haven’t had any leaking since. Had the extra slat installed and it did nothing for leaking (still worthwhile because leaves/acorns/debris would fall into the channel and drop into where the cover retracts when operating). Once you take the appliqué off it’s easy to see where you should add a strip.

Are there any concerns these aftermarket fixes could void a warranty? If your tonneau gets stuck and you bring it in for servicing and you've put a bunch of aftermarket seals on the truck, is there a chance Tesla wouldn't cover tonneau fix?

This is why I don't want to modify the truck. If Tesla won't fix it, then I am stuck with a swimming pool.
No, it doesn’t void the warranty. It’s literally replacing the foam seal with one that actually seals between the appliqué and roof glass.

not complicated, better seal at the applique to glass edge
stronger seal at tailgate end

Note like the sloppy job shown in the video,
using two disjoint pieces of rubber not sticking to the frame and dangling !!!
