Expensive lesson! I am sure many people will chime in with the correct way to scrub bugs off the front of the CT but this has me questioning if I should go back to the more durable stainless. This wrap was done just two weeks ago. This is my 3rd time trying the wrap route and I think it's time to go back to SS for good.

I was using the Giraffe Tools pressure washer from several feet away and not focusing too long on any one specific spot.

What kind of PPF film is that? I've pressure washed PPF dozens of times and never had a problem. I'll keep doing it the same way. I'll pressure wash, foam cannon, pressure wash, hand wash, followed by a pressure rinse. I don't spend much time at all doing the pressure washes. That said, I do absolutely miss the toughness of the plain stainless steel. I went from being able to use sandpaper to clean my vehicle to having to make sure I don't get too close with a pressure washer.

There are all sorts of pressure washers.
What psi and gpm were you using and more importantly what was the nozzle being used? 0-15 degree nozzle will definitely cut up a wrap. Stickwith 30-40 degree nozzles. Plus use a steep angle, not a perfect perpendicular approach.

You need a better quality wrap. No way that would happen with Pure PPF

I have a detail company. We wash a lot CT, no accidents, no scratches using pressure washer. Sorry but you have a different problem. Where do you get the water?

I'm with you, nothing but issues with my PPF clear coming off, edges not sticking, holes in the PPF from highway driving and debris tearing the Black PPF, I can't wait to stick it out in the sun and peel it off what to many issues, I take it through a carwash weekly, lots of brush scratches. I'll go back to factory. Handprints i can deal with, just run it through again. so disappointed with PPF, I may try buffing to a mirror shine next. stay tuned for what's next!

How thick is that wrap? And you put PPF on top?

Great questions from everyone! It's a 3M gloss black wrap with PPF. The invoice expired so I can't see specifics on thickness, brand of PPF, etc. I'm going to call the installer Monday to get this right...

I do live very rural so it's not a 5 or 10 minute drive to a car wash. Pressure washing all of my rigs is ideal for my situation. I don't care about the rest getting dirty but the front of the CT is a bug magnet with all of my highway driving. Whether wrapped or unwrapped, dozens of bugs on the front isn't aesthetically pleasing :)

I am leaning towards just going back to naked SS again. Third time wrapping was not the charm.

Update for whoever cares. My installer said I only breached the PPF and not the vinyl. He was awesome enough to replace it for free.
Hopefully this thread saves someone with a wrap to always use the FAN attachment, NOT the needle one like I used.

Super glad this story had a happy ending. Thanks for sharing the journey. I will definitely be sticking with stainless steel.

The PPF wrap has a vinyl under layer?
