Please no Indian programmers. I've already worked at 2 tech companies that took a major dive after serious outsourcing to India. My current company is on that path.

The mindset is to cut corners to get features out quickly with no thinking of long-term maintainability. It's because most are contractors and don't have to look back on their code ever because they move to new projects.

I work with programmers all over the world. It's a challenge to collaborate with different cultures, but I've not found there to be a demographic correlation to skill.

A shallow horizon would be a problem for all short-term contractors, regardless of nationality.

Before I left the workforce I had similar experiences. The problem is that American companoes were trying to pinch pennies by outsourcing development to other countries. You cannot blame Indians, Chinese, etc. for having their own ways of doing things, their own culture. You have to adapt to the country you are working in, and if you don't then you lose.

The stock market is a fickle beast. I only care about whether Elon's committment to Tesla is as strong as it was before the Twitter deal, because I don't know or care who else owns Tesla stock. If Elon was selling Tesla because he thinks the company will go down, then yes, I'd freak out. But he is selling stock to buy something he wants. That shouldn't trigger a panic, but the algorithms people build into their selling pattern are based on who is selling and in what quantity and not why. And when the panic (any panic) begins it steamrolls. So if you have spare dollars and believe that Tesla is strong this is a buying opportunity.

I would never buy into any social media platform because I think their lifetimes are short and I just don't believe in them (and I don't want to have to be an active trader). Pesonally I think that he is throwing a sizable portion of his net worth away but that is his choice to make and not mine/ours.

Its just basic market manipulation. The economy is bad so all stocks have downward pressure. Add the fact there are quite a few mega wealthy that don't like the idea of a free speech open source twitter. There is a reason the mega rich buy media networks like FOX, MSNBC, NYTimes, its to control the narrative. Maybe that is what Elon is doing here with twitter or maybe he really wants to open source the algorithm and promote free speech, either way its a threat to them.

What can be done? well Elon will either need to sell some Tesla stock or borrow against his Tesla stock, so the most effective way to hurt this deal is to put downward pressure on Tesla, it will make Elon need to sell more shares or put up more share collateral for the loan. Essentially making it cost more for him to buy twitter. The shorts will start and the FUD will play on those same media networks to drive down the price causing it to cost Elon much more to fund the deal.

I would expect given the Q1 financials that any drop significantly greater than the overall market will likely recover over time, but not financial advice.

The problem isn't programmers from India - they're decent. It's the mindset of outsourcing it to save money. Penny wise, pound foolish.
