Twraps Matte Mysterious Green Self-Install Wrap Done

Hello everyone,

I know, I know…oh look, another CT getting wrapped, haha!!

Just wanted to give a shout-out to @TWRAPS and their fantastic PPF Wrap Kit. Awesome commo throughout the process (pre-order, order, after sale). The cuts on the panels were perfect. Their install video and written instructions made everything super clear.

I got my FS AWD in May, 2024 and wanted to rock the stainless for a bit. But after about 10 months, I felt it was time to try a wrap and I’m so glad I waited. The Twraps kit is so refined. And the PPF color is PERFECT!!

Mistakes were made of course, haha!! But, Twraps says “Don’t panic!” and that worked!! Very forgiving film. So easy to work with. I am so happy with the result. The color goes from near-black to dark ODG. Just beautiful.

Since this pic, I installed FS decals over the wrap (That’s the tailgate obviously. Color balance is a bit off as I had bright LED worklights going. The wrap color looks like the overall pic, dark green).

Just attempted to do a DYI wrap, granted was not a TWRAP and ended up ripping off the entire thing and threw $900 into the trash.. Yours ended up turning well I see

This would totally be me, but i will say i feel like PPF where you use water is a little easier i bet than dry installs, at least you can just keep respraying and move it around, i put some clear on my model y and it wasn't too bad of course that was just small sections lol

No, that's not my truck. That ^ color is 'Matte Ghost Metal Dark Green', which was a color I was considering, but it was a little too 'sparkly' for my taste. I used 'Matte Mysterious Green'

BTW, Twraps will sell you swatch books with 300+ PPF colors. You buy it for $99. They refund the $99 in full (within 30 days, including shipping both ways) if you buy a wrap from them. If you don't buy a wrap, then full refund minus return shipping. I'm sure we all know how different the film looks in sunlight vs on-screen. Made it so much easier to pick a color!!

Zero previous PPF experience. Took me about 10 hours over two days (that includes panel prep). I would stop for lunch or taking care of things around the house, etc along the way.

The film is extremely easy to work with (wet install). Once I got a panel down, I would move on to the next panel to give the edges time to dry before edge wrapping. The relief cuts Twraps uses make edge wrapping much easier.

Prep: That's another thing I liked about Twraps. There is no elaborate panel prep beforehand. If you watch their install video, the panel prep is done as you go: Soap spray and wipe down, soap/scrape, soap/rubber squeegee, IPA wipe down. Super-easy.

Oh no!! Was it vinyl or PPF? I ask because Twraps is PPF and is a wet install. In my mind, wet install seems like it would be easier? I have no previous film experience so maybe dry is easier, haha!!

It was PPF, flat panels were easy, it was the edges that ended up looking like crap..

Great question!!

- Don't rush (no really, DON'T RUSH): There's plenty of time to get it right and you can always pull the panel up and start over if things get weird. The wet install makes that easy.

- Buy the PPF kit from Amazon (Twraps also sells a kit): The kit has VERY useful edge tools that saved me while chasing some bubbles near the fender flares. - Have good lighting!!: I had been meaning to buy some LED work lights to replace my old, hot 500w quartz lights. What I like about this one is you can adjust brightness and color temp on each head independently. It folds up small. And remember, you can plug them into your truck!! Got it.

Twraps really put a lot of thought into the edge wrapping. Lots of relief cuts. I still had to do my part and go slow, but the edges came out great.
